What is Clicks Power Keyboard?

The Clicks Power Keyboard is a physical keyboard designed to improve typing accuracy and efficiency on mobile. It aims to solve the limitations of on-screen keyboards by providing tactile feedback, dedicated keys, and a more focused typing experience.

To use the Power Keyboard, simply attach it to the back of your phone, pair using Blueooth, slide out the keyboard, and start typing. Because it’s a physical keyboard, it frees up screen space and reduces input errors caused by touch typing.

If you want a dedicated typing experience, you may already be considering the Clicks Communicator – an Android 16 smartphone with an integrated physical keyboard, kind of like a modern BlackBerry – or the previously-released Clicks Keyboard Case. However, the Power Keyboard has significant benefits over the other two: one, it supports broader device compatibility compared to the Keyboard Case, and, two, it’s significantly cheaper than the Communicator phone ($109 vs $499).

How is Clicks Power Keyboard built?

Since the Power Keyboard is still in pre-order, I don’t have firsthand information on its material, feel, or durability. As such, what we know about the Clicks Power Keyboard’s build is limited:

  • It’s roughly the same size as a battery pack. Its dimensions are listed at 119.7 × 76.6 × 15.2mm.
  • It weighs 180g. For comparison, the iPhone Air 7 weighs 165g, while the Samsung S25 sits at 162g. So, the Clicks Power Keyboard will definitely double your phone’s weight.
  • It has a built-in 2150mAh battery. You can choose to charge your phone or disable wireless charging completely – in which case, the keyboard’s battery life may last weeks before needing a recharge.
  • The keyboard is only available in QWERTY layout. This isn’t surprising, since the Power Keyboard is a new product, but it would be nice to see support for other languages and layouts in the future.
  • There’s a light indicator. This may be used to indicate charging status, Bluetooth connection success, or both.
  • The keyboard is backlit. Clicks also promises the LED backlight will be adjustable, likely through the companion app.

Key features of Clicks Power Keyboard

The Clicks Power Keyboard is a versatile phone keyboard that provides the following benefits:

  • Premium typing experience. Clicks aims to provide a satisfying tactile experience with its sculpted keys, dedicated number row, and shortcut integrations.
  • Multiple device support. You can use the keyboard with any Bluetooth-enabled device, including iPhones, iPads, Android phones and tablets, smart TVs, AR/VR headsets.
  • Simultaneous Bluetooth connections. You can connect to up to 3 devices at a time and easily switch between devices using a keyboard shortcut.
  • Wireless charging. Power Keyboard supports 5W Qi wireless charging, so you can power your phone as you type.
  • Small form factor. The keyboard’s portability means you can easily slip it into your bag or briefcase.
  • Widescreen compatibility. This keyboard is designed to accommodate your phone’s landscape mode and even large screen displays like the Samsung Fold.
  • High configurability. Clicks lets you configure wireless charging settings, backlight brightness, and more using the companion app.

Clicks Power Keyboard compatibility with other devices

Clicks’ Power Keyboard connects to any Bluetooth-enabled device using BLE 5.4, which delivers low-latency input while minimizing power consumption.

Confirmed compatible devices include but are not limited to:

  • Smartphones and tablets (iOS and Android)
  • Smart TVs and Android TVs
  • AR/VR headsets, including the Apple Vision Pro
  • Smart watches

Other devices that may be supported are: laptops and desktop computers (Windows, macOS, Linux), e-readers with Bluetooth support like Kindle and Kobo, gaming consoles like PlayStation and Xbox, and streaming devices like Roku and Amazon Fire TV.

Price and value of Clicks Power Keyboard

Clicks Power Keyboard retails for $109 but is available for pre-order at a discounted price of $79. Each order comes with free shipping and a 30-day return policy.

Based on its features, the Power Keyboard feels like it will be worth purchasing, especially if it delivers on the promise of premium typing. I also think the backlighting and built-in 2150mAh battery make it a worthwhile purchase, considering that many Bluetooth keyboards offer neither.

For example, Logitech’s Keys-2-Go 2 doesn’t come with backlighting or even rechargeability. Worse, it retails for $79.99.

How to pair Clicks Power Keyboard

Once you receive your Clicks Power Keyboard, follow these steps to pair it with your smartphone:

  1. On your phone, go to Settings > Bluetooth and turn Bluetooth on.
  2. Attach the MagSafe Clicks Power Keyboard to the back of your phone. If your phone doesn’t support wireless charging, you can still attach the keyboard using a MagSafe phone case.
  3. Put the keyboard into pairing mode by first holding down the ‘123’ key and then pressing the ‘0’ key.
  4. On your phone, wait for the Power Keyboard to appear on the list of available Bluetooth devices, then pair the devices. Confirm any pairing prompts that appear.
  5. Slide out the keyboard, and start typing on your phone.

How to switch between paired devices

The Power Keyboard can connect to three devices simultaneously.

How it works: The first device you pair with the keyboard will be stored to the ‘1’ key. Subsequent pairings will be saved to the ‘2’ and ‘3’ keys respectively.

To switch between devices, follow these steps:

  1. Hold down the power key.
  2. Press the ‘1’, ‘2’, or ‘3’ to choose the device you want to connect to.

What do real users think about Clicks Power Keyboard?

Initial reactions to the Power Keyboard’s announcement is largely positive. On Reddit, users agree that “MagSafe is definitely the way to go for those who want a physical keyboard” for their phones.

Commenters also think the design is a significant improvement over the Clicks Keyboard Case. The company’s first venture was met with mixed reactions, with users lamenting how it changes the balance of typing on a phone, making it uncomfortable to use for long periods. Some fans predict that the Power Keyboard’s weight and slide-out form should alleviate, if not solve, this concern.

Final verdict: is the Clicks Power Keyboard worth it?

The Clicks Power Keyboard improves typing experience and accuracy, thanks to its backlit, premium keyboard. Its slide-out design and BLE 5.4 connectivity make it a strong option for anyone seeking better accuracy and comfort compared to on-screen typing.

The keyboard’s portability and multi-device support set it apart from other generic Bluetooth keyboards. You can connect up to three devices simultaneously and adjust settings through the companion app. Early reactions suggest the keyboard will balance typing comfort with portability, though its weight may take some getting used to.

Overall, the Clicks Power Keyboard is a thoughtful accessory for productivity-minded users and casual typists alike. I like that its wide compatibility and pricing make it accessible, and I suggest taking advantage of the pre-order period and discount for an even better deal.
