Snapchat expands its ChatGPT-powered chatbot to all users

Snapchat has announced that its My AI chatbot is now accessible to all app users. Previously exclusive to paying subscribers, the feature offers personalized recommendations and creative content.
Snapchat aims to differentiate itself from bigger rivals like Instagram and TikTok by expanding access to its AI chatbot and focusing on distinguishing between private and public posts.
Users can now engage in back-and-forth conversations with My AI, ask factual questions, and request creative content. In addition to individual chats, users can also include My AI in group conversations.
Snapchat+ subscribers can exchange photos with the AI chatbot, which can generate AI-created images in turn. For example, users can send ingredients to My AI, and it will respond with a recipe.
Users can also personalize My AI with a custom name and a Bitmoji avatar. Snapchat said it had also introduced new tools for creators to go viral and incentivize them financially. Maintaining a public page while posting privately for friends and family will also be easier.
Addressing the risks of incorporating ChatGPT, which can sometimes spread inaccurate information or respond inappropriately, Snapchat said that 99.5% of My AI responses conform to its community guidelines.
“My AI is far from perfect, but we’ve made a lot of progress,” the company said in a blog post, adding it will “continue to use these early learning to make AI a more safe, fun and useful experience.”
Snapchat was among the earliest adopters of ChatGPT after OpenAI, the company behind the viral chatbot, opened access to its technology to third-party businesses earlier this year.
