WhatsApp to finally let users edit their messages

WhatsApp is rolling out a long-awaited message editing feature to users worldwide. But there’s a catch – you’ll only have 15 minutes to change your mind.
The Meta-owned messaging app, currently the world’s most popular, is adding an “Edit” button to messages that users have already sent.
“From correcting a simple misspelling to adding extra context to a message, we’re excited to bring you more control over your chats,” WhatsApp said in a blog post.
Users will have 15 minutes to modify their messages after hitting send by long-pressing them and choosing “Edit” from the menu.
If that’s not enough time, WhatsApp has already introduced the “Delete” button that allows users to remove messages they have sent for everyone in the chat within two days.
Edited messages will be displayed as such but will not show edit history. The feature will be available to all WhatsApp users in the coming weeks.
The update brings WhatsApp closer to rivals like Telegram and Signal, where users can already modify messages.
Last year, Twitter announced an edit button but the feature is only available to select users.
