OpenAI, the company behind ChatGPT, has launched OpenAI Academy to invest in developers and organizations using artificial intelligence (AI) in low to middle-income countries.
The initiative created by OpenAI focuses on countries with talented developers and organizations that may not have access to AI models.
OpenAI expressed that these organizations and individuals tackle extremely important issues within their communities that AI might be able to help solve.
The tech giant also said, “Investing in the development of local AI talent can fuel economic growth and innovation across sectors like healthcare, agriculture, education, and finance.”
The initiative will provide various resources, including training and technical guidance, API credits, community building, contests, and incubators.
OpenAI will provide experts to support developers and organizations who are leveraging AI.
The company also offers $1 million in API credits “to expand access to OpenAI models, enabling participants to build and deploy innovative applications.”
While there is no information on the countries, organizations, or individuals that can participate in the OpenAI Academy, more details are set to be revealed alongside information on how to access these resources.
