
About 25,000 Americans have signed up to learn more about the Trump administration's new elite corps of engineers, Tech Force, the nation’s Human Resources department says.

The new US Tech Force, officially launched on December 15th, will be tasked with "the most complex and large-scale civic and defense challenges of our era," the .gov website explains.
"From administering critical financial infrastructure at the Treasury Department to advancing cutting-edge programs at the Department of Defense – and everything in between,” it states.
Backed by the White House, the two-year program aims to build the next generation of government technology that will support the recruitment and placement of staff with artificial intelligence (AI) expertise in federal roles.
Director of the US Office of Personnel Management, Scott Kapor, boasted about the 25K+ on X Tuesday. “Super excited to report that 25,000+ people have registered at techforce.gov," the senior US administration official wrote.
“This is a clarion call. If you want to help your country lead in the age of AI, we need you,” Kupor also posted in a follow-up message.
Registrants were said to have “received an email today of initial job announcements,” Kupor wrote in the US Tech Force update. “Please check them out. If you haven't already registered, it's not too late to apply,” he added.
Tech Force will team up with private sector
Interested candidates will compete for 1,000 spots to work at various federal agencies, including the Departments of Homeland Security, War, Veterans Affairs, Commerce, Labor, Transportation, and more, as well as other government offices, such as the IRS and Small Business Administration.
Furthermore, the Tech Force is expected to collaborate with leading tech companies, receive technical training, and work with senior management, plus engage with industry leaders.
About 30 leading technology companies are on the partnership list, with more to be added as time goes on. Major names include Amazon, Apple, Coinbase, Dell, Google, IBM, Meta, Microsoft, Nvidia, OpenAI, Oracle, Palantir, Salesforce, and Uber.
Once the two years are up, the corps engineers can seek employment with the partnering private-sector companies for potential full-time roles.
Skilled areas in high demand for applicants seeking to join Tech Force include software engineering, artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, data analytics, and technical project management.
The four-step recruiting process will include:
- Initial application
- Technical assessment,
- Interviews (potential) with agency leadership
- Background check.
Positions will be filled on a rolling basis and for multiple experience levels. Salary levels will range from $150,000 to $200,000 annually and will include full benefits and eligibility for performance-based awards.
Officials say the administration will favor those individuals with “strong problem-solving abilities and a passion for public service.”
