Best eSIM providers and plans for Georgia in 2024

Georgia is an excellent tourist destination. It’s well worth traveling to this year, considering the relaxed visa policies, the affordability, and the pure beauty of the country. But there’s one thing we all hate about traveling — constantly swapping SIM cards!

There’s nothing worse than arriving in a new country and having no data to use on your phone. I’m not interested in paying those exorbitant roaming fees, and I’m sure you’re in the same boat. Luckily, there’s a great solution to this problem. You can install an eSIM on your smartphone and buy data packages globally. It’s easy, convenient, and makes your traveling experience much better.

But there are tons of eSIM providers to choose from, and if you’re new to the concept, it can be overwhelming trying to find the best one. I’ve dug into the research and reviews and tested providers myself to come up with this top five list of best eSIM providers for Georgia. So, before you get on that plane, read this review and get yourself an eSIM from my list of the best providers.

Top 5 eSIMs For Georgia - my shortlist

Key considerations for buying an eSIM for Georgia

It’s easy to see that an eSIM could be the perfect solution for travelers heading to Georiga. However, it’s important to keep in mind that all eSIM providers are unique. Each eSIM plan comes with a unique set of features, benefits, and drawbacks.

  • Device compatibility— Since eSIM technology is relatively new, not all devices are compatible. It’s crucial to ensure that your device can use an eSIM before you buy one. As a broad overview, eSIMs are compatible with Apple devices, starting from the iPhone XR, as well as the Galaxy S20 and newer Samsung models.
  • Network coverage - When looking for an eSIM provider in Georgia, an important factor to keep in mind is network coverage. The most popular network in Georgia is Silknet, providing LTE, 3G, 4G, and 5G coverage.
  • Data plans and pricing - Data plans and pricing will be different across each eSIM provider. That’s why it's important to do your research and check out a range of options before simply committing to the first one you find. Always make sure to stick within your budget and choose the provider that best suits your data needs.
  • Flexibility and switching options - The ability to switch plans and data allowances is critical. If you decide to extend your stay in Georgia, or if your data usage needs change mid-stay, it is ideal for your provider to let you adjust your plan and service package.
  • Customer support - The last thing you want is to be stuck in a foreign country with no access to data. Opt for an eSIM provider with great customer service and reviews to ensure that you can get the help you need.

Plan Options.
Based on having a wide range of plan options, Jetpac leads the way. There are seven different plans to choose from, spanning across 4, 15, and 30 days from 1 GB all the way up to 40 GB.

Georgia Plans Pricing. Jetpac has the cheapest option by far, offering you 1GB of data over four days for just $1. The most expensive package is $80, but you get a stack of 40 GB of data, which is worth it if you’re in Georgia for a longer period of time.

Network Coverage. Like the other providers, Jetpac uses the top three networks in Georgia, giving you LTE, 3G, 4G, and 5G coverage.

Activation Process. There’s no seamless activation using an in-app feature like you have with most other eSIM providers, so you need to install your eSIM manually here. It’s not difficult – just scanning a QR code from inside your phone’s settings menu – but it’s more of a hassle than some other options.

Customer Support. Jetpac is great because you can get in touch with the support team through social media (yes, it’s an actual customer support channel). Other than that, you can get in touch through email.

Plan Options. What’s great about aloSIM is its massive data plans. For example, you can buy a package for 180 days giving you 100 GB. If you’re staying in Georgia for more than a month, then aloSIM could be a great option for you.

Benefits of using an eSIM in Georgia

Pros of eSIM

If you’re still on the fence about getting an eSIM, you shouldn’t be. They’re great because they give you flexibility when choosing a SIM card whenever you travel. No need to set fixed-term contracts or pay throughout a lengthy minimum term.

There’s also no risk of losing eSIM cards when you’re swapping them over. Modern devices allow you to have up to 8 eSIMs installed on your phone, so you can hop from one country to another without losing connection or handling tiny, disposable SIM cards. If your mobile device already supports eSIMs, you might even be able to convert your existing SIM into an eSIM for convenience.

Potential drawbacks of eSIMs

I also have to tell you about the drawbacks of using an eSIM. Depending on your eSIM provider, activating the eSIM can be a hassle. Sometimes, it requires you to be connected to Wi-Fi, and other times you need to be in the destination country before activating.

It can also be difficult to swap an eSIM between devices, so make sure to install it on the phone that you’re planning on using for the entire trip. On top of that, some providers don't allow you to share your data allowance through “tethering” or setting up a Wi-Fi hotspot, which means you can only use it on one phone. Then there’s the fact that it’s not supported on older devices, and some countries do not yet provide eSIM coverage.

My final verdict on eSIM card Georgia

Georgia is a beautiful country that is definitely worth the visit. The relaxed visa regulations and overall affordability of make it an ideal tourist destination. But heading there without an eSIM is a huge mistake.

Want to use your maps? Send some WhatsApp messages? Book a new hotel? All of that requires mobile data. With roaming charges going through the roof, you need a local service package to get the best value for money.

That’s why an eSIM is the perfect solution. Saily made it to the top of my list because it has excellent usability and a great team behind it. It’s also affordable, but there are some even cheaper options out there, like Airalo. Each eSIM provider has its good and bad points, so make sure to compare each one before you come to a final decision.
