Best eSIM providers and plans for Dubai in 2025

Are you planning a trip to Dubai? You'll need internet access to navigate the city, make reservations, and stay connected with friends and family. As an avid traveler, I can confidently say an eSIM is your best bet. eSIMs are virtual SIM cards you install on your device like an app, eliminating the need for a physical SIM card.

Using an eSIM allows you to access the web anywhere in the world without paying costly roaming fees. There’s no need to switch SIM cards when you use an eSIM, ensuring you can continue receiving calls and accessing services linked to your primary SIM card.

There are many eSIM providers available today, and it can be difficult to determine which one is worth your money. That’s why I set out to assess several eSIMs to identify the best eSIMs for Dubai. Whether you’re planning a short trip to Dubai or an extended stay that will involve visiting other parts of the United Arab Emirates (UAE), I’ve got recommendations for you. Keep reading to see which eSIMs made my list.

Top 5 eSIMs For Dubai - shortlist

What to consider before buying an eSIM for Dubai

There are several benefits of using an eSIM in Dubai, but not any eSIM will do. To pick an eSIM that’s well-suited to your needs, it’s essential to consider factors like your destination, the duration of your trip, and how much data you need. Here are some things to ponder when choosing an eSIM for Dubai:

  • Coverage: Assess the eSIM provider’s coverage in Dubai and other parts of the United Arab Emirates, especially if you plan to venture out of the city. Coverage is crucial, as you wouldn’t want to spend money on an eSIM that doesn’t work when you need it. The best eSIM providers partner with major telecom operators like Du, Etisalat, or Virgin Mobile to ensure reliable coverage across Dubai and the UAE.
  • Calls and SMS: Do you only need an eSIM for mobile data, or do you also want to be able to make calls and send SMS messages? If you answered yes to the latter, ensure the eSIM you choose supports calls and SMS. Most providers offer data-only plans, but some give users a phone number for calling and texting.
  • Data allowance: Estimate how much data you’ll need during your trip and choose a suitable plan. It’s better to overestimate than underestimate how much data you’ll need.
  • Travel duration: eSIM plans usually have a validity period that ranges from a few days up to a month or even a year. Make sure you choose an eSIM plan that aligns with the duration of your trip to Dubai.
  • Data sharing: Tethering allows data sharing with other devices via a mobile Wi-Fi hotspot. However, not all eSIMs allow data sharing, and some have a daily limit. If you plan to use different devices to access the web during your trip or are traveling with others who would depend on you for internet access, ensure you pick an eSIM that allows data sharing.
  • Price: Price is one of the biggest factors when choosing an eSIM. eSIM prices vary based on their plans, features, and location. I recommend comparing the prices of different eSIM providers before making a decision.

Important tip: SIM and telecommunications sales and purchases are restricted in the United Arab Emirates. For example, only individuals with a UAE Pass can purchase an eSIM card inside Dubai and UAE. Therefore, it’s essential to purchase and activate your Dubai eSIM before your flight to the country. This will guarantee a seamless experience without needing technical workarounds, like a VPN, to activate your eSIM.

The best eSIMs for Dubai – complete list

To develop this detailed list of the best eSIMs for Dubai, I worked with the Cybernews research team to review different eSIMs thoroughly and rank them. We assessed their plans, network coverage, pricing, and ease of use. Here’s what we found:

1. Saily - overall best eSIM for Dubai in 2025

Saily esim banner
Supported networks:3G, 4G, 5G
Country coverage:200+
Starting price:$3.99 (1GB for 7 days)

Saily is the perfect eSIM for Dubai. It’s the most affordable option on this list and doesn’t require any identity verification. Plus, setting up a Saily eSIM takes only a few minutes.

Plan options: Saily offers local, regional, and global data-only plans covering Dubai. Its local plans for the United Arab Emirates come with 1GB to 20GB of data and are valid for 7 to 30 days. Unfortunately, Saily’s regional plans for the Middle East and North Africa don’t offer much data (3GB max) or have a long validity period (30 days max). However, its global plans are valid for up to a year, although they offer a maximum of 20GB.

None of Saily’s plans includes a phone number, meaning you won’t be able to make mobile calls or send messages using the eSIM. However, you can use VoIP apps like WhatsApp, Skype, and FaceTime to call and text.

Dubai plans pricing: Saily is the most affordable eSIM for Dubai. Its plans for the UAE start at $3.99 for a 1GB, 7-day plan.

Network coverage: Saily offers its services in 200+ countries, including the UAE. Although the company doesn’t disclose which local carriers it partners with, you can expect 3G, 4G, LTE, or 5G speeds.

Activation Process: It takes less than 5 minutes to set up a Saily eSIM. Download the Saily app from Google Play or the Apple App Store and purchase a plan. Then, click the activate button and follow the instructions to activate it. It’s that easy!

Customer support: Saily provides customer support 24/7 via its in-app live chat. You can also reach its support staff via email. Unlike many other eSIMs, Saily’s live chat connects you to a real person instead of a bot. Read our comprehensive Saily review to learn more about this eSIM.

2. Airalo - top-rated eSIM for Dubai with a wide selection of plans

Airalo banner
Supported networks:LTE
Country coverage:200+
Starting price:$4.50 (1GB for 7 days)

Airalo has a reputation for being reliable. It arguably has the largest selection of eSIM plans for Dubai and the United Arab Emirates. No matter your needs, Airalo most likely has a plan for you. It even has a plan for users who want to make calls and send SMS. The only area it falls short is that it doesn’t have unlimited or pay-as-you-go plans.

Plan options: Like Saily, Airalo has local, regional, and global plans covering the UAE. Its local plans for the UAE come with 1GB to 20GB of data and are valid for 7 to 30 days. Its regional plans for the Middle East and North Africa have the same allocated data and validity period as its local plans. Its global plans also come with 20GB max, although they’re valid for up to a year.

If you’d like to be able to make calls and send SMS messages in Dubai, choose one of Airalo’s Discover+ plans.

Dubai plans pricing: Airalo’s plans for the UAE start at $4.50 for 1GB of data, valid for 7 days.

Network coverage: Airalo is available in more than 200 countries. In the UAE, it works with Etisalat and supports LTE speeds.

Activation process: Airalo has a seamless eSIM activation process. Download the app, pick your preferred plan, and click activate. You can also opt for QR-based or manual installation. Airalo will require you to verify your identity to use its UAE eSIM, so it’s best to have ID documents nearby when installing and activating the eSIM.

Customer support: Airalo has multiple customer support channels, including live chat and email. You’ll get a faster response if you contact them via live chat.

Plan options: Jetpac has local, regional, and global eSIM plans covering the United Arab Emirates. Its local plans for the UAE come with 1GB to 5GB and are valid for 4 to 30 days. Holafly banner
Supported networks:3G, 4G, LTE, 5G
Country coverage:190+
Starting price:$6.90

Holafly is the best eSIM to choose if you want unlimited data in the United Arab Emirates. It’s also one of the few providers that allows you to buy multiple eSIMs at once.

Plan options: Holafly doesn’t have fixed plans. Instead, you get to customize your plan based on the duration of your trip (1 to 90 days) and how many eSIMs you’re getting. In addition to its local eSIMs, Holafly also has regional eSIMs for the Middle East and global eSIMs that cover Dubai.

Holafly is a data-only service. While it doesn’t throttle the speed of its unlimited data plans — like some other eSIMs — you can only share 500MB of data per day via hotspot. So, if you’re traveling with colleagues, family, or friends, it’s best to get individual Holafly eSIMs.

Dubai plans pricing: Holafly’s plans for the United Arab Emirates start at $6.90 daily and give you unlimited data.

Network coverage: Holafly offers its eSIM service in over 190 countries. It works with Etisalat and promises 3G, 4G, LTE, or 5G speeds in the UAE, depending on your location. You can expect good network connectivity in Dubai, Abu Dhabi, Sharjah, and other big cities. However, the network quality may not be very good in the desert and remote areas.

Activation process: Holafly provides a QR code when you purchase an eSIM plan. Once you scan the QR code, you’ll be guided through the installation and activation of this eSIM. The process is straightforward, and Holafly has a user-friendly app that helps you manage the eSIM.

Customer support: Holafly has a dedicated customer support team. You can reach them via 24/7 live chat, email, and WhatsApp. The addition of both live chat and WhatsApp ensures that you can get help immediately from Holafly’s support staff. Also, GigSky is a data-only eSIM, so the only way to make calls and send text is by using VoIP apps.

Dubai plans pricing: Nomad’s regular plans for the UAE start from $8.00 for 1GB of data, valid for 7 days. Its day plans cost $4.00 for 1GB (plus 512kbps of unlimited data) per day.

Network coverage: Nomad has coverage in over 200 countries. It works with Du in the UAE and offers 5G internet.

Activation process: Like many other eSIM providers on this list, Nomad uses QR-based activation. The eSIM provider shares a QR code when you purchase a plan. How we tested and ranked these eSIMs for Dubai

I collaborated with the Cybernews team to assess different eSIMs thoroughly and run tests on them to determine the top Dubai eSIMs. Here’s a glimpse into the criteria we used to rank the best Dubai eSIMs:

Coverage:How wide is the eSIM’s coverage in Dubai and the UAE? Does it have regional plans?
Network connection:Is connecting to the network fast and seamless? Is the network reliable in different parts of Dubai and the United Arab Emirates?
Speeds:Does it support 4G and 5G speeds in Dubai and the UAE?
Compatibility:Is it compatible with a wide array of iOS and Android?
Price:Is it budget-friendly? How does the price compare to the prices of other eSIMs?
  • Coverage. We analyzed each eSIM’s coverage in Dubai and the UAE and selected those with the best coverage. We prioritized eSIMs that have regional and global plans covering Dubai.
  • Network connection. We ran tests and analyzed user reviews to gauge the reliability of each eSIM network in Dubai. We selected eSIMs that are proven to have strong network connections across the UAE.
  • Speeds: Internet speed is important, so we paid particular attention to the speed of different eSIMs in the UAE. The eSIMs on the list mainly offer 5G, LTE, and 4G speeds, ensuring you get lightning-fast and stable internet.
  • Compatibility. To avoid potential compatibility issues, we checked which devices each eSIM works with and selected those that are compatible with a wide range of iOS and Android smartphones.
  • Price. We compared the prices of different eSIMs and assessed the features they offer. Then, we selected the eSIMs that give you the best bang for your buck.

How to activate an eSIM card in 5 different ways

Setting up an eSIM is generally a quick and easy process. However, the activation methods available to you depend on the eSIM provider you’ve chosen. Here’s a quick overview of the main eSIM activation methods:

  • QR code entry. This method involves scanning a QR code that your eSIM provider shares after you purchase a plan. You’ll need to go to settings on your phone and find “Cellular.” Then, select the option to add an eSIM and scan the QR code to install it.
  • Manual entry. Manual activation involves entering the eSIM details directly into your device. You’ll need the eSIM’s SM-DP+ address, activation code, and other details for this method. Go to settings on your phone, click “Cellular,” select the option to add an eSIM, and click “Enter Details Manually.” Then, fill in the details.
  • Use the provider's app. This is probably the easiest way to set up an eSIM. You simply need to install the eSIM app, purchase a plan, and click the “activate” button to set it up.
  • Use a provider's website. eSIM providers usually have detailed installation instructions on their websites to guide users. If your eSIM provider supports QR-based installation, you will likely get a QR code on its website when you purchase a plan.
  • Activate in-store. eSIM providers generally don’t have physical stores. However, you can ask the staff at phone retail shops to help you install your eSIM using any of the above methods.

Note: Regardless of the method you choose, after installing an eSIM, you’ll still need to activate it by setting it as your primary SIM for mobile data and turning on data roaming.

Does my phone support eSIM?

It’s easy to determine whether your phone supports eSIMs. We have a detailed article explaining how to check your device’s eSIM compatibility. However, here’s a brief explanation of how to go about this on iPhones and Android devices.

eSIM compatability on iPhone:

Not all iPhones support eSIMs. While older models like the iPhone 6S, 7, and 8 don't, the iPhone XR and later models are compatible with eSIM technology.

  1. Go to your iPhone Settings.
  2. Click on ‘General.’
  3. Select ‘About.’
  4. Search for ‘Digital SIM’ (on older iPhones) or ‘Available SIM’ (iOS 15 and later).
  5. If you see a 15-digit IMEI number listed here, your iPhone supports eSIMs.

Remember that the US version of the newest iPhone 15 series is eSIM-only, meaning it does not have a physical SIM card slot. This varies by country, but most other country-specific versions of the iPhone 15 support eSIMs and also have a physical SIM slot (nano-SIM size). To learn more about this, check out our iPhone eSIM guide.

eSIM compatability on Android phone:

Here’s how to check if your Android device supports eSIMs:

  1. Go to Settings.
  2. Select ‘Connections’ (or Connections and mobile hotspot on some models).
  3. Click on ‘SIM card manager.’
  4. If there’s ‘Add eSIM’ or ‘Add Mobile Plan’ (depending on your model), you can use an eSIM without an issue.

Note: The steps above may differ depending on the manufacturer of your Android device. For example, to check if your Samsung phone supports eSIMs, look for “Status” or “IMEI information” in the “About Phone” or “Settings” menu.

Can I make phone calls with an eSIM from Dubai?

Most eSIM providers offer data-only plans, so you don’t get a phone number for calls and SMS. Luckily, you can still make calls through Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) apps like WhatsApp, Skype, and FaceTime. Another option is to use your regular phone number to make calls. However, international calls are usually more expensive, so you will rack up a costly phone bill.

If you need to make a lot of calls during your trip to Dubai, I recommend choosing an eSIM like aloSIM that offers an international phone number for calls and SMS.

Benefits of using an eSIM in Dubai

There are several benefits of using an eSIM in Dubai, which is why it’s the most popular connectivity solution for tourists. Here are some benefits of using an eSIM during your trip to Dubai:

  • Flexibility: eSIMs allow you to switch between network providers without changing physical SIM cards. This makes it perfect for countries like the UAE, where network reception may vary by location.
  • Stress-free: You can purchase and configure your eSIM before traveling in Dubai and have access to the internet the instant you land in the country. This means you don’t have to find a local SIM vendor before you can connect to the internet.
  • Safety: Since eSIMs are embedded in your mobile device, there are lower chances of losing them or someone stealing them, like a physical SIM card. Even if you lose your phone, you can easily log into your eSIM account from another device and suspend or delete your eSIM profile.
  • Space-friendly: Another benefit of eSIMs is their space-friendliness. More precisely, eSIM technology eliminates the need for a physical SIM slot, allowing companies to make slimmer devices and creating space for additional features or even larger batteries.
  • Eco-friendly: eSIMs are completely digital, reducing the need for plastic SIM cards, which contribute to electronic waste.
