Every year, brands take to social media to fool their customers by marketing fake products for April Fools' Day.
The trend of advertising fake products on April Fools' Day isn’t a novel idea. In fact, it's become a very annoying tradition that many companies participate in, and this year is no exception.
Cybernews have found some of the most absurd April Fools' Day products that are being plastered across X and Instagram this year.
THIS: vegan beef cubes for dogs
Vegan meat for dogs? Well, that’s what vegan meat brand THIS is claiming to be producing this April Fools' Day.
The product is supposedly plant based raw beef chunks for you dog. The plant based meat is supposedly “packed with flavour, texture, and nutrition of raw beef, thanks to one key ingredient…watermelon.”
This April Fools' Day prank is potentially problematic as animals shouldn’t necessarily be on a plant based diet – but I digress.
Using “patent pending technology” THIS has transformed watermelon cellulose into “digestable protein” which in turn creates “a protein rich meal your dog will love.”
Babybel: wax sleeping bag
Babybel, the brand known for its individually wrapped cheese snacks, is supposedly dropping a “wax sleeping bag,” which aligns with the waxy packaging its cheese comes in.
The company said that it would be dropping the “exclusive Babybel Wax Sleeping Bag – designed to keep you warm, dry, and snug as your favourite little cheese snack.”
Users can supposedly peel Babybel’s waxy outer layer to reveal the inside – the “ultimate festival essential you never knew you needed,” the company says.
TALA: scrunch station
The activewear brand “Wear Tala” always participates in an April Fools' Day joke. While consistent, the jokes usually don’t fool me, as I’m prepared for its April Fools antics – so predictable.
This year, TALA claims to have opened a “Scrunch Station” in their UK flagship store in London. The “Scrunch Station” allows fashion enthusiasts to add a scrunch detail to any outfit.
In activewear, the popular “butt scrunch” aspect of a legging or activewear bottom allows people to accentuate their best assets (if you know what I mean).
Popeyes: pickle lemonade
It does exactly what it says on the tin. A few days before April Fools, Popeyes released images on X and Instagram debuting their pickle infused lemonade.
While it sounds relatively delightful, netizens were bamboozled by the fried chicken chain’s new beverage.

The post captioned “In a bit of a pickle rn” got roughly 20,000 views and a mere 26 comments from confused X users.
One person said, “wtf is this about lol” and Popeyes’ responded, “find out on April 1st” alluding to the fact that this was all a big prank. Hilarious Popeyes.
Chicken shop date: nugget phone case
The internet “dating” show “Chicken Shop Date” debuted its very first product, the chicken nugget phone case.
The host and creator of the show, Amelia Dimoldenberg, can be seen posing in a mirror selfie with the phone in hand, and there is, in fact, a chicken nugget in there. But of course, this is all just an April Fools joke.
Dimoldenberg and those responsible for Chicken Shop Date have clearly copied the makeup and skincare brand Rhode and its viral lipgloss phone case.

Heck: matcha sausages
Now this is diabolical.
The British meat brand “Heck” supposedly released a new flavour of sausage this April Fools' Day. It’s combining quality British pork with a substance that all the wellness girlies love.
Matcha. Yes, Heck are claiming to produce matcha infused chipolata sausages that are “lean, green, and packed with goodness.”
They’re supposedly “light, herby, and full of flavour – high in protein, gluten free, and low in fat.”
When heading to the website, the match flavored sausages are all sold out. What a shame.
