Recent reports about Claude developer Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei's wife, Cami Clark, once again demonstrate the pitfalls of transparency and trust in centralized, closed AI systems.
While The Wall Street Journal (WSJ) reported last week that "Even Claude is in the dark about Dario Amodei’s wife – and her influence at Anthropic," The Information joined in with a story titled "Anthropic’s ‘First Lady’ took a winding road to the top."
"Cami Clark may well be the most consequential person within Anthropic’s orbit who doesn’t have a formal role at the startup," The Information said.
Meanwhile, according to WSJ, Clark, who married Dario Amodei in 2022 after dating him since 2014, does not work for her husband's company but is described as a "sounding board and strategic adviser."
Per the report, Clark's attempts to formalize her role at Anthropic failed.
She is reportedly frequently present at major industry and political gatherings, including Davos, where she interacts with investors and other influential figures on Amodei’s behalf. Per WSJ, she met Donald Trump's daughter, Ivanka Trump, and spoke with her husband, Jared Kushner.
What's more, according to the report, Clark, who filed for bankruptcy in 2009, also unsuccessfully pitched Jeffrey Epstein a women-focused "revolutionary porn company" before venturing into other projects.
The report also emphasized that there are very few publicly available details about Clark and that there were efforts to remove references to her online. Even Amodei’s Wikipedia page only recently acknowledged that he was married and does not identify his wife.

Meanwhile, when Cybernews asked Claude who Dario Amodei’s wife is, the AI model answered that it was Daniela Amodei, the CEO's sister and the president of Anthropic, later admitting that it was wrong and that the wife is Cami Clark.
"This is worth flagging: there's been a wave of recent (mid-August 2026) reporting on her that includes some fairly sensational claims," Claude added. The model correctly answered who ChatGPT's CEO's husband is on the first attempt.
Reactions to these reports were mixed, with some social media accounts calling it a "really dark" story, while others criticized the reports themselves for "bordering on gossip rag."
