Fans of the British sci-fi anthology will be thrilled to learn that an 8th season of Black Mirror began filming this summer, according to Variety.
While filming has commenced, there’s no information surrounding its release date.
The mind behind the series, Charlie Brooker, has promised that the series will return and will be “more Black Mirror than ever” in an interview with Netflix’s Tudum.
“I can confirm that Black Mirror will return, just in time for reality to catch up with it. So, that’s exciting. That chunk of my brain has already been activated and is whirring away,” Brooker told Tudum in January.
Brooker functions as Black Mirror’s writer and executive producer, working alongside co-executive producers Louise Sutton, who worked on the Emmy Award-winning episode USS Callister, and Mark Kinsella, who has been nominated for an Emmy for his work on the show.
Other Black Mirror alums will also return, including BAFTA-winning writer Bisha K. Ali, Producers Guild of America award winner Jessica Rhoades, and Emmy Award winner Annabel Jones, according to Variety.
