Popular gaming streamer Zack Hoyt, better known as Asmongold, has been banned from the streaming platform Twitch for voicing controversial comments about citizens of developing countries.
-
Popular influencer and gamer Asmongold got a 7-day Twitch ban for calling developing-world citizens "illiterate third worlders" on stream and doubled down on X instead of apologizing.
-
He was also banned in October 2024 for similar inflammatory comments about Palestinians.
-
The fallout sparked wider controversy, with critics calling out his language as derogatory and the X thread devolving into hate speech.
Asmongold himself claimed the ban stemmed from comments made during a Twitch broadcast. The suspension is temporary, lasting a total of seven days.
His post on X brazenly acknowledged the reason for the ban as being “because I said I don't give a f____ about the opinions of illiterate third worlders.”
He then doubled down on his original sentiment, digging his heels in once again:
“Would someone be banned for saying they don't care about what an American's opinion is on the Middle East?” he questioned.
Banned for an entire week because I said I don't give a fuck about the opinions of illiterate third worlders.

Would someone be banned for saying they don't care about what an American's opinion is on the Middle East?
Of course not

The post was akin to poking a hornet's nest, as hate speech proliferated the thread with posters calling each other “disgusting rat” and “retard” among a slew of other insults.
The semantics of Asmongold’s post were dismantled by author Katerina Kolozova, who pointed out that the term “third worlders” is derogatory, explaining that the first, second, and third categories are no longer valid.
Who is Asmongold?

He has done time before
Cutting a divisive figure, this is not the first time he has been kicked off Twitch. In October 2024, Asmongold faced a similar scandal after a rant about Palestinians.
Back then, he exclaimed, “I’m not going to cry a f____ river when people who have genocide baked into their laws are getting genocided.”
The exposure at the time was huge, with the clip amassing almost 40 million views on an unofficial meme account.

Asmongold apologized a day later on his official account, and included in the apology: “You guys deserve more than me saying stupid shit like that, I'll do better.”
Whether the influencer has managed to raise his standards or not, however, remains debatable.
