Twitch streamer "Fandy" gives birth live on stream

A World of Warcraft Twitch streamer has become the first to give birth live on stream, attracting thousands of viewers and criticism from social media users.

Fandy, a popular Twitch streamer and content creator, has done the unthinkable.

“Hi Twitter, my water just broke, so I think I’m going live. Baby time,” the Twitch streamer posted on X (formerly Twitter).

The X post received over 85,000 views, over 800 likes, and a range of comments. While many congratulated the new mother on her delivery, others criticized Fandy for using her newborn as a vehicle for content.

The Twitch stream, which lasted over eight hours, shows many people rallying around Fandy, visibly and audibly in pain.

The video shows the group setting up a birthing pool in Fandy’s living room, with a TV showing an active Twitch chat in the background.

Fandy, who has 370,000 followers on Twitch, is shown in various positions whilst struggling through birthing pains.

At the time of writing, the stream received over 20,000 views. While it's nowhere near the most-watched streams of all time, Fandy has seemingly made history, being one of the first people to give birth live on Twitch.

Social media users had mixed reactions when it came to the live birth, while many congratulated the new mother, others seemed to suggest that Fandy used the birth of her child for views.

“The poor kid hasn't been born yet and already sold for content,” said one X user.

Another user claimed that Fandy needs to “up (her) morals in life,” while another simply said, “Girl, shame on you.”

“So desperate when your viewership goes down to something like this,” claimed another user.

The platform “SullyGnome,” a site that records Twitch streamers' statistics, reported that her overall hours watched have dropped by roughly five percent, giving credence to X users' claims that Fandy has live-streamed her birth simply for views.

However, this could correlate with Fandy’s dip in hours streamed, as she reportedly only streamed once in the past seven days.
