A fake Louis Vuitton ad campaign featuring the elusive twins Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen is spreading across social media, confusing most who come across it.
“This is going to give me nightmares,” said one X user under the fake Louis Vuitton ad, which amassed almost three million views and 1,000 comments.
The image shows a version of the Olsen twins, sporting lavish gold jewelry and hoop earrings adorned with the Louis Vuitton logo.
The twins’ eyes seem to be bulging from their heads, while their hands have freakishly long fingers.
Many X users compared the sisters to the fictional character Gollum or Smeagol in J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Lord of the Rings.
One X user conflated the twins with an old Romani psychic by saying that one of the twins “looks like they’ll tell you how you’ll die and the other looks like they’ll tell you when it happens.”
Another unironically blamed the weight loss medication Ozempic for the twins' poor appearance.
“Showing the Ozempic hands like a girl hoping her engagement ring gets noticed is a bit much, but god only knows what those poor women went through as children,” the user said.
However, many social media users immediately concluded that the image was AI-generated or dramatically altered using artificial intelligence.
“AI forgot to add eyebrows,” one X user pointed out, while dozens of commenters consulted Grok on whether this ad was real.
Internet users have supposedly claimed that the image is from a Christmas shoot, according to IMDB.
However, neither the Olsen Twins nor luxury fashion brand Louis Vuitton has made a public statement saying they’re working together.
Therefore, social media users have concluded that the image must be a fake generated by AI.
Cybernews searched for the campaign online, and more images of “the Olsen twins” in the supposed Louis Vuitton campaign surfaced.
On Facebook, one post doesn’t call out the fake ad. Instead, it positions it as a real campaign featuring the Olsens.
“Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen, 39, didn’t come to play…they came in Louis Vuitton,” the post reads.
This image shows the same uncanny image of the Olsen twins, just in different outfits and wearing different hairstyles.
Facebook users raised concerns surrounding the state of the sisters, saying that they look dead or akin to fictional villains.
“Are they 39 in human years?” said one Facebook user commenting on their weathered appearance.
“Tales of the crypt,” said another user.
