The iconic children’s TV series Sesame Street and others are coming to Netflix after President Donald Trump pulled funding from the free-to-air television network Public Broadcasting Service (PBS).
Netflix has announced that a few iconic children’s titles will find a new home on the streaming giant’s platform.
“We're excited to announce the new destination for these beloved titles is Netflix,” the streaming service said.
“Whether you love learning the letter of the day with Elmo or jumping in muddy puddles with Peppa, we have something for every kind of kid and every kind of family.”

Sesame Street’s 56th season will be “reimagined” on Netflix, followed by another 90 hours of previous episodes from different seasons.
The World of Peppa Pig will also be available on Netflix alongside Sesame Street. But instead, subscribers will “explore their favorite show through engaging puzzles, mini-games, coloring books, and more in this all-in-one app.”
Family and kids' entertainment makes up 15% of Netflix’s total viewing by 300 million subscribers.
Trump pulls PBS funding, forcing kids' shows out on the street
The Corporation for Public Broadcasting (CPB) published a press release stating that the US Department of Education had pulled its “Ready to Learn” grant, effective immediately.
President Donald Trump signed an executive order blocking federal funding to networks like PBS and National Public Radio (NPR) due to their “biased and partisan news coverage.”
CPB, a government organization that funded the two broadcasters, revealed that funding for children’s shows like Sesame Street would be terminated.
