Twitch streamer ERBY livestreamed himself inside a dog cage, charging users to confine him for longer. He ran the stunt for multiple days in March, drawing growing attention before getting banned.
Viewers could pay to extend the stream or trigger humiliating challenges. A donation of $10 from a patron amounted to an extra hour in the cage, effectively trapping him via audience funding.
In just three days, the streamer raised $1,540 in total from paying users, who directly controlled how long he remained confined. ERBY, who also goes by ErbyTalks, is known for stunt-driven content and viral endurance challenges.
Smaller donations consequently triggered micro-punishments, such as switching off the lights for a few minutes, soaking himself in water, or having to taste the unbearable, fiery California Reaper hot sauce.
Viewers were incentivized to push limits further for entertainment value, with the format mirroring gamified suffering, a growing trend in livestream culture.

Twitch issued a ban for monetizing “self-destructive behavior.” The platform’s policy prohibits soliciting money from harmful or risky acts.
The platform also flags content that may encourage viewers to replicate harm, with ERBY’s stream arguably incentivizing escalating physical discomfort for profit. The ban was temporary, but VODs and clips were removed.

After the Twitch ban, ERBY moved the stream to Kick. Kick also banned the stream shortly after. The controversial influencer’s channel now returns a “request blocked” error message.
Reactions on X ranged from mockery to moral concern, with one user saying, “That’s barely double minimum wage. Damn, some people should have their internet taken away.”
Another noticed an uncanny resemblance to a popular TV show – “I feel like I’ve seen this in Black Mirror.”
