“Blue triangle” bug irritates Garmin smartwatch users

Instead of tracking their workouts and sleep, users are stuck with unresponsive smartwatches.

Garmin smartwatch users report that suddenly, their devices started shutting down and entering an endless loop of reboots.

Numerous users reported that their smartwatches only showed the “blue triangle.” The affected models are the Garmin Forerunner 165, 255, 265, 955, and 965, the Garmin Fenix 7 and 8, and the Garmin Instinct 3.

“My watch has decided to enter disco party mode and keeps flashing the Garmin logo nonstop. This randomly happened about 2 hours after a track workout,” wrote one Reddit user.

Soon, others also reported the same issue, guessing that the problem could be linked to a software update.

The affected users also shared their attempts to revive their smartwatches by re-syncing, rebooting, or even going through factory resets.

Afterward, Garmin issued an update on the matter by stating: “We are aware of an issue causing some devices to be stuck on the start-up screen or a blue triangle.

To resolve this, press and hold the power button until the device turns off, then power it back on, and sync with the Garmin Connect app or Garmin Express.”

The same message was also shared on the Garmin Connect app.

However, some users reported that turning the device on and off didn’t work for them.

This led users online to start mocking the whole situation. One of them wrote: “Earned a new badge this morning!” and added an image of a “badge” that said: “You’ve Earned the Patience with Our Incompetence Badge!”

“My Garmin just hit a 100 sleep score itself,” joked another Reddit user, with another adding: “Sweet revenge, who is unproductive now?”

Cybernews has reached out to the company for an update on the situation and will update with a response.
