Rockstar Games may have granted one dying GTA fan his final wish

A Ubisoft Toronto developer posted a now-deleted plea on LinkedIn, begging GTA 6 developers to grant their family member one last wish.

Anthony Armstrong, a Ubisoft developer in Toronto, Canada, posted to LinkedIn that one of his family members, who has been battling cancer, may only have a few months to live.

This means the family member, who is reportedly a huge GTA fan, wouldn’t get to see the release of the next installment of their favourite game because developers are pushing back release dates.

“He currently lives only a stone's throw from the Oakville studio, so it's my hope that one of you may be able to set up an exclusive playtest, so he can have a chance to experience the game before passing,” the original LinkedIn post reads.

Armstrong confirmed via a LinkedIn update, seen by Insider Gaming, that he had managed to talk to Rockstar Games and that they’d received “great news.”

The LinkedIn post was then taken down, which some theorize is due to legal reasons, as the post apparently confirmed that the terminally ill fan is set to receive a pre-release copy of the game.

“We spoke to them today and got great news. That’s all I can really say, but thank you all from the bottom of my heart,” the deleted update reads.

This isn’t the first time that a terminally ill fan has gotten their hands on a blockbuster game before its release.

One Red Dead Redemption fan was able to get their hands on Red Dead Redemption 2 before it was officially released.

Similarly, another fan played Fallout 76 before its release, and the same was true of Chris Taylor, who played Super Smash Bros. until eventually succumbing to his illness, according to GameRant.
