Sony Pictures and long-time YouTube gamer Jacksepticeye are gearing up to create an R-rated animated movie based on the exclusive PlayStation game Bloodborne.
The media and entertainment company Sony Pictures made an announcement that piqued many PS players' interest.
Bloodborne, the PlayStation exclusive, is being turned into an animated movie, and it is likely to be violent and gory.
Very little has been revealed about the plot, but the president of Sony Pictures, Sanford Panitch, confirmed the rumors, saying the movie will follow the journey of a traveler through a gothic landscape complete with horrifying creatures, according to Variety.
Alongside Sony’s announcement, Irish YouTuber and gamer Seán William, aka Jacksepticeye, announced that he will be producing Bloodborne with the major studio.
Bloodborne is Jacksepticeye’s most beloved game, and he has created various videos centered around its gameplay.
The YouTuber said that being part of the movie’s production is “a dream come true.”
“I can't say much else about it yet, but I will pour everything I have into this!” he said via X.
Jacksepticeye said that the movie will be R-rated, meaning that it's not suitable for anyone under the age of 17 and will likely be violent, gory, and contain references not appropriate for younger audiences.
The YouTuber announced the news via his channel, which received almost 900,000 views in just over 21 hours.
“It’s the honor of my life,” Jacksepticeye said, “this is the coolest thing I’ve ever been able to announce.”
The YouTuber said that Bloodborne is “the thing that he is most passionate about when it comes to gaming.”
This isn’t the first time that a gaming YouTuber has branched into mainstream media.
Mark Fishbach, otherwise known as Markiplier, directed and starred in the 2026 film adaptation of the game Iron Lung.
The science fiction horror flick was based on the 2022 submarine simulation horror game and proved to be a major indie hit.
Iron Lung grossed $17.8 million at the US box office on its opening weekend and went on to make $43.5 million worldwide, according to the BBC.
