Google's Gemini AI is coming to iPhones and iPads as part of a gradual rollout – the feature will soon be added to the Chrome browser for users across the US.
iPhone users will no longer have to go through Google's iOS app or Google website to use Gemini AI, as the feature will be built directly into Chrome.
The move will mirror Android’s capability, which already has Gemini built into the Chrome browser (Android’s default browser). Desktop versions of the browser also have the feature.
Google first teased the integration in September, prior to testing it with select users. As 9to5Google reports, the built-in Gemini experience will now be rolling out more widely.
Reportedly, as soon as the feature is available, users will see that the Google Lens icon to the left of the address bar is replaced by the Gemini spark icon. Tapping the Gemini icon will lead you to a “Page tools” pop-up that slides up and opens up two options: “Search screen” (Lens) and “Ask Gemini.”
You will see the following shortcuts: summarize page (which will give you quick insights about the contents of the page) and create FAQs about this topic (which will give you FAQs based on information from this page and similar sites).
Some other queries you can make include simplifying a complex topic, helping you test your knowledge on a certain subject, or making recommendations based on your preferences. The response will be clearly visible, floating above the page.
The feature is currently supported in the US when the browser is set to English, provided that you’re signed in and not working from an incognito mode. It’s not yet available to all users and will be gradually rolled out, according to 9to5Google.
It is more widely available with Chrome 143 for iOS, and according to the new version description on the App Store, other updates include:
- Easy checkout using your biometrics instead of a CVC code for online shopping.
- Helpful tips on the new tab page.
- Stability and performance improvements.
