Missed a good deal online? This web browser feature can help

If you’ve ever been in a situation where you unsuccessfully tried to buy concert tickets or missed a good sale, there may now be a solution.

Aloha Browser has introduced a new feature that allows users to track any relevant information on a website, such as flight prices, show dates, and similar information via a simple snippet.

Before trying out the new tool myself, I knew that website tracking tools aren’t an uncommon concept. Businesses often use them to note general changes in their websites, especially when following the competition.

Aloha has tailored the same information tracking approach to users' needs by introducing Snips, a browser snipping tool.

How does Snips work?

Snips works by allowing users to highlight areas of webpages where they find relevant information they’d like to monitor, such as a section that sells concert tickets.

A user then selects the details they want to track, such as date, availability, or price, and makes a snippet. The feature also allows you to set how often the site should be checked, whether every hour or every few days.

Snips also allows command setting, meaning that users can assign tasks such as “Notify me when the original price changes." In my case, I wanted the tool to let me know when the discounted price of the perfume I wanted changes again.

What I found tricky at first was seeing where these saved prompts ended up. Later, I noticed that the saved snippet is placed on the main dashboard, where users can see the whole collection of saved “prompts.” Once any changes are detected in a certain website, Snips sends an alert to the user.

When asked about the dashboard, Andrew Frost Moroz, the founder of Aloha Browser, explained that the snips’ visibility will be improved even further in the future.

The new Aloha feature can be used to track different information, since the tool allows users to mark any section of a page, whether it’s a change in price, shipping tracking, or any other important update.

“Snips tracks web updates far beyond just price changes – including sports scores, stock movements, news updates, and more. And because it’s built directly into the browser, it can securely check for updates even on sites you're already logged into, not just publicly accessible pages,” explained the founder.

This way, the company aims to reduce time “wasted” on managing newsletters and email offers, constant website refreshing, or navigating through numerous sites.

With Snips' desktop version already available for Windows and macOS users worldwide, its mobile release is scheduled for early summer this year. The company also plans to add an updated version with multiple dashboards in the future.
