Dead battery no longer a problem if you have an e-bike and USB-C charger

Phone about to run out of battery? Not a problem if you have an e-bike.

Estonia-based company Ampler Bikes released its first commercial electric bikes. What makes them stand out from the rest is the fact that they can be charged via USB-C cable.

The company has released its latest e-bike lineup, Nova and Nova Pro, which will be sold in Europe.

The Verge reports that Ampler’s Nova model includes 48V 336 Wh batteries that can be fully charged in just three hours with a USB-C PD 3.1 charger.

The company also offers a 140W USB-C PD 3.1 charger that can be purchased for €80 (around $87).

The bikes can also charge your other devices such as phone or laptop. Nevertheless, these devices can only be charged at fairly low power, reaching 15W.

Ampler’s latest bikes are already available for €2,990 (about $3,230) for Nova and €3,490 (about $3,770) for Nova Pro. They are available in three sizes and come in a variety of colors.

It’s been previously reported that since the release of the EU Common Charger Directive, all electronic devices in the EU should be sold with USB-C charging ports, to reduce electrical waste.

Although the directive was first introduced in 2022, it came into effect in 2024, forcing changes for companies such as Apple to scrap smartphones with Lightning ports.
