iPhone users will soon be able to choose their snooze duration.
Apple revealed an array of features that should be included in its latest operating system, iOS 26, during its annual Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC).
But the changes that users are most excited about are much simpler than those that the company tries to hype people with.
It was reported that with iOS 26, users will be able to personalize their alarm snooze intervals.
Users could choose their snooze duration from one to 15 minutes. The change comes after iPhone users expressed their frustration about the feature, which only allowed a 9-minute snooze duration, reports MacRumors.
Users can change the duration by selecting the alarm and choosing the snooze duration that they prefer.
While this feature might seem insignificant, it excited some users who have different habits when it comes to waking up in the morning. While some might only need a few minutes to finally be up for the day, others want a longer timeframe.
The new feature started a discussion online, with users being interested in why the default snooze time was set at 9 minutes.
“Was there any health benefit for them setting it at exactly 9 minutes? Is there any study done on what an optimal snooze time should be?” asked one user.
“It’s leftover from old alarm clocks,” wrote one netizen, explaining that the interval came from mechanical alarm clocks with a snooze button made in 1956.
“These clocks worked with gears, so adding those snooze minutes involved working around those gears. Getting the gear teeth to line up to allow for exactly ten minutes wasn’t possible,” shared the user.
