Reddit announces AI-powered tools that use your posts to sell you stuff

Reddit has announced “Reddit Community Intelligence,” trained on over 22 billion posts and comments to help businesses sell you more stuff.

Reddit, the community posting site used by millions worldwide, introduced “Reddit Community Intelligence” at the Cannes Lions International Festival of Creativity 2025.

Described as “the collective knowledge from the billions of human conversations” across the platform, the new tools included under this umbrella will aid businesses and organizations in making “smarter marketing decisions.”

What’s “Reddit Insights” all about?

“Reddit Insights” is a “scalable AI-powered social listening tool” that should help businesses “unlock strategic value” from the billions of interactions on Reddit.

This tool allows businesses to follow the latest trends on Reddit and helps them make decisions based on this data.

Reddit Insights can help businesses identify emerging cultural insights, confirm creative concepts, or monitor brand health, according to a press release from the social media platform.

Publicis Media tested “Reddit Insights” and claimed to find various use cases, from campaign planning to competitive intelligence, product development, and cultural analysis.

“For clients like The Hershey Company and Comcast, Publicis teams were able to discover new audiences, identify opportunities to increase brand awareness, understand overall brand sentiment, and engage impactfully on Reddit,” the platform said.

What are Reddit’s “Conversation Summary Add-ons”?

“Conversation Summary Add-ons” is a new advertising feature that “dynamically integrates positive content from Reddit users directly below an advertiser’s creative,” Reddit said.

Meaning positive comments, conversations, and interactions will be seen directly below advertisements, potentially influencing consumers to buy products based on “positive content.”

Reddit claims this new feature “blends AI-driven efficiency with real user perspectives,” by combining positive content with adverts to deliver “built-in social proof” which will help “consumers make decisions faster.”

“Our early tests have shown that Conversation Summary Add-Ons resulted in a +19% higher clickthrough rate (CTR) than standard image ads, boosted ad relevance, and fostered deeper connections between brands and communities,” Reddit said.

Potential issues with “Reddit Community Intelligence”

These AI-driven tools are in Alpha, meaning that the tool is still in the early stages of its development.

As we all know, AI tends to hallucinate, often makes mistakes, and can present biases that are antithetical to Reddit’s open nature.

The commercialization of Reddit could also be an issue for users, as AI is once again being trained on their conversations, comments, and interactions.

Using people’s potentially sensitive conversations, questions, and queries to sell them things they don’t need might also be a concern for users.
