Samsung Galaxy Ring health features uncovered in APK teardown

The ring claims to monitor your stress levels, track your body temperature, and predict your periods.

Last week, Samsung officially confirmed that it will be hosting its Unpacked event on July 10th, 2024. The company is expected to announce two foldables, the Galaxy Z Flip 6 and Galaxy Z Fold 6, a few new smartwatches, and a new Galaxy Ring.

Thanks to multiple leaks and insights revealed in lawsuits spotted by tech journalists, we are afforded a glimpse into the new smart ring’s capabilities.

Android Authority did an APK teardown and activated various Galaxy Ring-centric health features in the latest Samsung Health app.

The teardown shows that besides monitoring heart rate, the ring should be able to measure stress levels, detect skin temperature, and predict periods.

Snore detection may also be a feature that can be used alongside the user’s phone.

Snore tracking requires a nearby, charging phone and requires recording permissions from the Health app.

APK teardown helps predict features that may arrive in the future based on work-in-progress code. However, there is also a possibility that such predicted features may not make it to a public release, Android Authority notes.

Previous leaks suggested that the Galaxy Ring will come in eight different sizes and, according to Samsung, should go 9 days without charging.

A lawsuit against Oura revealed that the company is planning to start shipments of the ring this August.
