Best cheap offshore VPS 2026 - detailed reviews:
1. Kamatera – best cheap offshore VPS for cloud customization
| Rating: | |
| Price: | $4.00/month |
| Money-back guarantee: | No |
| Set-up time: | A few minutes |
| Server locations: | The US, Spain, Israel, Netherlands, Sweden, Romania, Japan, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Canada, Germany, the UK, Italy |
| Special deal: | Get Kamatera now, starting at only $4.00/month |
Kamatera offers excellent customizability for any VPS offer. When I started the sign-up process, I could choose between a pre-built server and a customized one. I decided to build my own server, and Kamatera prompted me to choose the server's key parameters.
First, I had to choose from 10 operating systems (including Arch, Ubuntu, and Windows). Then I had to pick the number of available cores, storage space, and data center location. I was also offered the option to enable daily backups, install a control panel like cPanel or Plesk, and have my server managed.
Kamatera offers 13 offshore locations in Spain, Israel, the Netherlands, Sweden, Romania, Japan, Australia, Hong Kong, Singapore, Canada, Germany, the UK, and Italy. I decided to test Kamatera’s cheapest server, and picked Italy as my data center to see how well it works for offshore needs.
Once I signed up for its cheapest $4.00/month plan, my server was deployed quickly with full root access. In addition, Kamatera offered over 100 templates for useful applications such as OpenClaw, n8n, Flowise, and game servers for Minecraft, Factorio, and Luanti. I ended up setting up a web server using Ubuntu and Node.js. The whole setup process took only a few minutes, and launching my project took a few more.
My website loaded quickly, with results from European connections being better than those from the United States due to the server location. After testing the website for over two weeks, I haven’t seen any issues with uptime or reachability. I was particularly impressed with Kamatera’s response time during my stress test, which was 4.06ms under heavy load.
I also asked the support team about the provider’s content restriction policies and received a prompt and detailed response.
2. Hostinger – best cheap offshore VPS for beginners
| Rating: | |
| Price: | $5.84/month |
| Money-back guarantee: | 30-day |
| Set-up time: | A few minutes |
| Server locations: | Germany, Lithuania, the Netherlands, the UK, India, Indonesia, Malaysia, Brazil |
| Special deal: | Get up to 73% OFF Hostinger VPS |
Hostinger is my top pick for a cheap offshore VPS for beginners due to its user-friendly interface and attractive introductory pricing. Hostinger VPS servers start at $5.84/month for a 2-year term.
Registering with Hostinger was by far the easiest among the listed providers. I had to pick a plan, an offshore server location, and my OS or application. Hostinger offers over 1000 Docker applications, including OpenClaw, Hermes, n8n, and NextCloud. Unfortunately, there was no way to customize the prebuilt plan by changing the number of virtualization cores or the RAM capacity.
Once I picked a server in the Netherlands, the setup process only took a few minutes, and I was greeted with a very modern dashboard. Navigating it, I had no problem finding features such as app installers, access to my files, and the root terminal, as everything was available in a clearly constructed menu. The Kodee AI assistant was also a welcome addition whenever I had any questions about setup.
To test Hostinger’s performance, I created a web app using the preinstalled OpenLiteSpeed instance with Node.js and hosted it for 2 weeks. In my tests, Hostinger held its own. The loading times were snappy from IPs near the server, uptime was reliable, and, despite the low RAM, latency remained manageable during the stress test.
The big drawback I see with Hostinger is its renewal pricing. After the initial 2-year term, the plan renews at a hefty $19.49/month. If your plan expires, migrating to a different provider may be a good option, as this price is far too high for the server parameters offered.
3. VULTR – best cheap offshore VPS for developers
| Rating: | |
| Price: | $2.50/month |
| Money-back guarantee: | 30 days |
| Set-up time: | A few minutes |
| Server locations: | Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Chile, the Netherlands, the United Kingdom, Germany, France, Spain, Sweden, Poland, Italy, Japan, Korea, India, Singapore, Israel, Australia, South Africa |
| Special deal: | Available now for only $2.50! |
Similar to Kamatera, I found VULTR’s wide array of services impressive, though it's a bit harder to use. After creating my account, I was met with a rather complex dashboard. I picked the quick-deploy option and was immediately presented with multiple options for my server.
VULTR clearly isn’t suited for beginners, as it uses technical terms you may not know. To launch a VPS, I had to select Instances, then choose whether I wanted a shared or dedicated CPU. This may be overwhelming if you’re just starting out using VPS, which is why VULTR is my pick for developers, who will find a lot of value in its wide range of services.
Finding the right plan in VULTR’s large list was a bit overwhelming. Luckily, picking my server location was much easier, as the 19 offshore locations are sorted by continent in a simple list. Note that not all plans are available in all locations, and you’ll only find out after you pick a server location.
I picked a server in Madrid, Spain, and the cheapest $2.50/month 1 vCPU and 1GB RAM plan. Next, I was presented with 13 operating systems, including Ubuntu, Debian, and Arch Linux. VULTR also offers a marketplace with panels like cPanel or Plesk, and apps like OpenClaw and Hermes.
I picked the OpenLiteSpeed WordPress pre-built system to see how it will perform with the default Twenty Twenty Four theme.
VULTR loaded my website quickly when tested from a European server, with a slight slowdown from the US, as expected given the offshore location. The server itself was also stable throughout my testing, remaining usable even under heavy load.
Unfortunately, the customer support options were disappointing – there was no live chat or phone number, and I could only submit tickets. While the responses were helpful, given that the platform is not intuitive, this was quite frustrating.
4. OVHCloud – best cheap offshore VPS for heavy traffic
| Rating: | |
| Price: | $5.35/month |
| Money-back guarantee: | 30 days |
| Set-up time: | A few minutes |
| Server locations: | France, Poland, Germany, the UK, Canada |
| Special deal: | Get OVHCloud for just $34.00/month! |
OVH is one of the longest-standing European hosts, offering offshore VPS servers worldwide. It offers multiple VPS plans at attractive prices, with datacenters in 5 offshore locations.
I started off my tests by configuring my server. OVHCloud offers pre-configured VPS server setups across 5 offshore locations. I picked a server in France with the cheapest configuration. I was impressed with its pricing: OVHCloud offered a 4GB RAM, 2 vCPU server for $5.35/month with no commitment, dropping to $4.54/month if purchased for a year. A comparable server would cost $19.00/month in Kamatera.
Next, I had to choose from 7 operating systems. I was also given the option to preinstall Plesk, cPanel, Docker, or n8n, but these only supported Debian or AlmaLinux. Overall, compared to the choices I got with Kamatera, Hostinger, and VULTR, this was really limited, forcing me to install Node.js manually using Docker to avoid the more time-consuming npm route.
Eventually, I was able to set up a functioning website. The website loaded quickly, but what really impressed me was how well OVHCloud handled traffic during my stress test, with a 25ms P95 response time under heavy load – that’s an excellent result, showing that the provider is ready for large traffic spikes even with the cheaper plans.
OVH offers live chat support between 8:30 AM and 5 PM EST, as well as expert callbacks. When I asked questions about how to set up Docker properly, the live chat gave me reliable answers that would definitely be helpful to beginners.
5. UltaHost – best cheap offshore VPS for Asia
| Rating: | |
| Price: | $2.99/month |
| Money-back guarantee: | 30 days |
| Set-up time: | Around 10 minutes |
| Server locations: | United Kingdom, Spain, Germany, Switzerland, Netherlands, France, Italy, Norway, Sweden, Poland, Canada, Mexico, Brazil, Saudi Arabia, UAE, South Africa, India, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Japan, Turkey, South Korea, Australia |
| Special deal: | Get Ultahost, save up to 50% |
UltaHost is my pick due to its extensive coverage in Asia and Oceania, with 11 servers in the region, providing strong support for companies operating there. It also offers some of the best long-term savings on the list, with its cheapest plan starting at $2.99/month on a 3-year plan. Note that this is a managed plan, with the Ultahost team ensuring your server is up-to-date and secure.
UltaHost made the purchase process very clean. I got to pick a prebuilt server package and got to choose its location. I was then prompted to pick my preinstalled software. The provider offers 6 operating systems, including Ubuntu and Debian. It also offered 5 control panels, including cPanel and Plesk, and apps including n8n, OpenClaw, and Hermes.
I picked a server located in Tokyo. The whole installation process took about 10 minutes – likely due to UltaHost’s managed setup. I then tested it by installing Node.js via WordPress. The results were solid, with good loading speeds from Asia, 99.98% reachability, and a solid stress test. Unfortunately, the dashboard featured limited customization compared to Hostinger’s excellent panel.
I had a few questions about how robust UltaHost's VPS management is. The support team quickly answered my questions in detail, explaining how the balance between managed updates and full root access works.
Final thoughts
Having an offshore VPS can be useful for many reasons – from data safety to client convenience. Each of the providers I listed excels in different conditions. Throughout my testing, I found the following:
- Customizability and scalability – Kamatera
- Beginner-friendliness and ease of use – Hostinger
- Advanced features for developers – VULTR
- Excellent heavy traffic performance – OVHCloud
- Big choice of servers, particularly in Asia – UltaHost
