Anthropic, the creator and developer of large language model (LLM) Claude, has introduced its Max plan, a subscription plan designed for people who extensively use the platform.
According to Anthropic, users have been complaining about Claude’s capacity limit. Once they’ve reached the usage limit, users have to wait some time before they can use it again.
To address this issue, Anthropic has issued a new subscription plan: the Max plan. This subscription offers expanded usage that far surpasses the company’s Pro plan.
The Max plan has two different tiers or levels of usage. The entry-level costs $100 per month and offers Expanded Usage, which is five times more compared to Anthropic’s Pro plan. This is ideal for users who work with Claude on a variety of tasks.
The second level is called Maximum Flexibility and allows users to have up to 20 times more usage than the Pro plan. This is more than suited for users who collaborate with Claude daily. However, Maximum Flexibility will cost you $200 per month.
“The Max plan offers flexible usage levels that grow with you,” Anthropic says in a press release. It’s perfect for users who need extended conversations to refine their work, work with a substantial amount of documents and complex data, have deadlines that can’t wait for current usage limits, and turn to Claude for various tasks throughout the day.
In addition to more usage, Max plan users will also have priority access to Anthropic’s newest features and models.
The number of messages you can send with a Max subscription plan varies based on the length of a message, the length of attachments, and the length of a current conversation. A message limit will reset every five hours, which Anthropic considers a session.
“If your conversations are relatively short, with the Max plan at 5x more usage, you can expect to send at least 225 messages every 5 hours, and with the Max plan at 20x more usage, at least 900 messages every 5 hours, often more depending on message length, conversation length, and Claude’s current capacity,” the company explains on a page regarding Claude’s Max plan usage.
Back in December 2024, OpenAI also launched a $200 per month subscription plan. Unlike Claude’s Max plan, ChatGPT Pro subscribers get unlimited access to the company’s chatbots.
