LinkedIn AI slop posts transform into facts about an NBA legend with the help of this Chrome extension.
The Chrome extension, Ai2Ai, is specifically designed to turn LinkedIn posts about AI into factual information about the NBA basketball star Allen Iverson (AI).
As users scroll through their LinkedIn feeds, the Chrome extension looks for AI-related keywords in the background and replaces them with facts about Allen Iverson.
“Now you no longer have to scroll through mountains of thoughtless 'LinkedInfluencer' posts about AI, you can instead scroll through mountains of facts about everyone's favorite 76er,” the website’s FAQ states.
This Chrome extension has come to life because its developers believe that LinkedIn is an essential part of corporate professional life.
“It’s a modern digital water cooler, a place where we go for news, gossip, and to waste a little time during the workday.”
However, LinkedIn has become a space for “mindless AI hype” and “thoughtless thought leadership.”
That’s why creative director of advertising, Johnross Post, and information security researcher, Aurora Johnson, created the Ai2Ai plugin.
Post and Johnson chose to use Allen Iverson, not simply because his initials are AI, but because he’s one of the NBA’s Most Valuable Players (MVP), an NBA All-Star, as well as a fashion icon.
While this may seem like an elaborate way to harvest users' data, the creators explicitly said that a Chrome extension may not be the most effective way to achieve that.
“Once you give the plug-in permission to run while you surf LinkedIn, it simply changes the page display locally. It doesn't collect any data or personal information,” the Ai2Ai website reads.
