Ease of use: Hostinger is easier to use than SiteGround

So, how does Hostinger vs SiteGround compare when it comes to user experience? Both companies have created custom control panels that have proved to be intuitive for beginners and advanced users alike.

These services deliver a smooth user experience, so let’s take a closer look at how they compare side by side.

Account management dashboard

When comparing the account management dashboards of Hostinger vs SiteGround, there is plenty to be impressed by.

Hostinger emphasized simplicity in its dashboard design. You won’t be overwhelmed by information when logging in for the first time – instead, you will be greeted by clear action steps you can follow to set up your site.

Up next, Hostinger vs SiteGround in the battle for the best custom control panel. Both hosting services have designed their own control panels to give their users the best possible website management experience. Let’s see how they did.

All in all, the SiteGround panel is just as functional as Hostinger’s. You can easily navigate all the settings on the left-side menu, as well as contact their support if something is unclear.

While there is no clear winner, Hostinger does come out slightly on top due to its design being fairly similar to the widely known cPanel.

The potential for extra features is really endless when considering all of the possible plans from these two hosting giants. So let’s take a look at some of the most popular extra features and how Hostinger and SiteGround stack up with their offerings.

  • Email hosting. Hostinger offers at least 2 free email inboxes for 1 year with every shared hosting account. SiteGround, on the other hand, simply offers free email with every hosting account.
  • Backups. Both providers offer free backups with their hosting accounts. Hostinger’s are weekly, while SiteGround’s are daily.

  • Staging. If you have lots of new ideas you want to test out before actually changing your website, staging is a feature that allows you to make changes to a site without affecting the website's live version. Both products are pretty strong in terms of features and ease of use, but I feel like Hostinger’s extra features and excellent UX give it the edge over SiteGround ever-so-slightly. That said, both products are excellent in their own right, and you really can’t go wrong in these terms.

Hostinger vs SiteGround performance

Talking about performance, both providers demonstrated great speed and reliability. However, while overall very similar, Hostinger proved to be more reliable in terms of uptime, while SiteGround showed some incredible average response speed.

Uptime and response time

No matter which provider you choose, you’re looking at a guaranteed 99.9% uptime. So, how did SiteGround vs Hostinger fare throughout uptime testing?

When monitoring Hostinger, I didn’t experience any downtime at all. That has resulted in an uptime of 100%. It’s a very impressive result, and it is well in line with its guarantee.

SiteGround, similarly, didn’t experience any downtime during my tests. This impressive result also exceeds its 99.9% uptime guarantee.

I also found that SiteGround’s average response time was 32.48ms, compared to Hostinger’s 96.57ms, meaning the former demonstrated better server responsiveness.

Website speed

To determine each provider's website loading speed, I created two identical websites and ran them through the test. Hostinger had excellent results, beating SiteGround in all categories.

To test the site’s speed, I considered 2 main factors – the largest contentful paint (LCP), which should remain under 2.5s, and speed index, which should take no longer than 3s.

Hostinger demonstrated the LCP of just 0.982s, and its speed index was an impressive 1.057s. This together proves that Hostinger is a very performance-oriented provider.

As for SiteGround, it was just as impressive, yet slightly slower than Hostinger. SiteGround demonstrated a disappointing 2.307m LCP and a speed index of 1.699s.

Unfortunately, SiteGround was slower than Hostinger in my tests. It scored below average in terms of loading speed. Hostinger, on the other hand, had excellent results in testing, making it the clear winner.

Stress testing results

To compare how each provider performs when flooded with increased traffic, I sent 50 bots to each website to roam around for 5 minutes.

For Hostinger, these bots didn’t cause any noticeable disturbance. It was running smoothly. In short, Hostinger easily passed my stress test.

SiteGround also performed beautifully, passing the same stress test. It did as well as when there was just a single visitor on the site. However, it did have higher peak response times, showing a bit less stability.

Overall, you can trust both providers to handle reasonable amounts of on-site traffic. Plus, if your site begins attracting more visitors than you ever anticipated, you can upgrade to a top-tier plan that can better support your growing audience.

Hostinger beat SiteGround in every single performance test I performed. That’s an excellent result, and it just shows how much the product has improved since our last test, which saw SiteGround win in some categories.

Website security

When it comes to security, SiteGround gives you everything that Hostinger does, with a few extras. Both hosting services provide you with a free SSL, a CDN, basic spam monitoring, automated backups, and 2-factor authentication.

  • Daily backups (instead of weekly ones with Hostinger),
  • Real-time monitoring,
  • Web Application Firewall (WAF)
  • AI anti-bot system optimized to protect you from various cyber-attacks.
Wrapping up
In short, Hostinger has a great security suite to keep smaller sites safe. However, if you are scaling up to a larger site, or maybe even an eCommerce platform with more traffic and more sensitive data, SiteGround is better equipped to meet your needs due to its daily backups and Web Application Firewall.
