Treasure hunters in the US now have a new challenge. A bitcoin (BTC) investor claims that he has hidden over $2 million worth of treasure, including an unspecified amount of BTC, across the country.
Jon Collins-Black launched an entire project dedicated to the treasure hunt, saying that he had spent nearly five years developing and executing the idea. As a result, five boxes are hidden across the US, reportedly containing not only BTC but also antiquities, shipwreck bounty, rare Pokémon cards, sports memorabilia, gold, precious metals, and rare gems.
According to the project’s website, some objects were made or owned by historic figures such as Pablo Picasso, George Washington, Amelia Earhart, Jackie Onassis, Henry David Thoreau, and others.
Of course, there is a book titled There’s Treasure Inside, written by Collins-Black, which claims, “All the clues you need to get within a decent proximity of each treasure box are inside the book.” He also notes that the boxes are located in safe places that are not dangerous to reach.
In the FAQ section, the project’s author states that “over a dozen people saw the treasure boxes and treasure items before they were hidden,” and that the treasure boxes were crafted by blacksmiths specifically for this project.
Additionally, the project confirms there is no more than one box in any state. So far, none of the boxes have been found, Collins-Black claims, adding, “You do not need to be a genius, and there is no grand cipher to solve that will take you to any treasure.”
He also remarked that “it is impossible to calculate” the total value of the treasure.
“I personally spent well over two million dollars on this treasure. But the price of gold as well as the value of many of the objects in the treasure have already gone up significantly since I acquired them,” the author said. BTC alone is up 160% over the past 12 months.
Meanwhile, the treasure hunt book is already marked as the "#1 Best Seller" in the "Adventure Travel" category on Amazon.
