Showtime: watch a documentary about Vitalik Buterin and stay tuned for Bitcoin Hotel

As if the bitcoin and crypto industries weren't entertaining enough on their own, fans of documentaries and comedies are in for a treat with two films about this bubbling space.

The Vitalik: An Ethereum Story documentary is already available online on the ethereumfilm. XYZ platform. According to the platform, this feature documentary chronicles "tech visionary Vitalik Buterin and Ethereum’s community of builders as they fight for an open internet accessible to all."

Streaming is available until October 20th, with tickets priced at $20. The film has already been released in cinemas.

In 2021, over just three days, the team behind the film raised 1,036 ETH (equivalent to $2.8 million today) from 662 backers. The film is also sponsored by Base, a so-called layer-2 blockchain developed by the Coinbase crypto exchange. Optimist and Strange Design produced the film in association with Lone Palm Productions, Big Beach, and TIME Studios. Zach Ingrasci and Chris Temple co-directed it.

Meanwhile, Variety reported that the Hotel Bitcoin comedy is set to debut at the American Film Market this November. Produced in Spain and directed by Manuel Sanabria and Carlos Villaverde, the film follows four friends as they try to protect their stash of 4,000 BTC ($254 million in today’s real world), embarking on various adventures in the process.

According to the report, the feature stars comedy actors such as Marta Hazas (My Fault), Mauricio Ochmann (Friends Till Death), Pablo Chiapella (The Night My Dad Saved Christmas), and Alejo Sauras (Estoy Vivo).

Bitcoin and crypto-themed films are an emerging category in the entertainment industry. Earlier this year, Cybernews.com prepared a list of the top films to watch in this genre.
