Nintendo has launched a website containing information on which games introduced initially on the first Nintendo Switch console are compatible with the Nintendo Switch 2.
According to Nintendo Life, since the launch of the Switch 2 in June, Nintendo has released game updates, system firmware patches, and other enhancements to make more games compatible with its newest gaming console.
At the same time, Nintendo also stated that not all Switch games are compatible, but that it continues to work on further compatibility.
To keep track of every update that Nintendo has released, the Japanese gaming company has launched a dedicated website specifically for this purpose.
Enter a Switch game title in the search bar, and it will tell you instantly whether it’s compatible or “unsupported” with the Nintendo Switch 2. It works for both physical and digital versions of Nintendo Switch software.
The website not only works with Nintendo Switch titles, but also with popular applications. For example, if you enter YouTube in the search bar, it says the app is incompatible with the Nintendo Switch 2 because “problems with game progression have been found.”
If you try this with Crunchyroll, a video-on-demand subscription service for Japanese anime and other Asian media, it just says “incompatible,” without any further details or explanation.
At other times, Nintendo provides additional information, for example, when an update is rolled out or an announcement is made stating that “previously identified issues have been resolved with an update.”
The Nintendo Switch 2 was released in June and remains popular among gamers.
Last week, Nintendo released its latest financial results, stating that the company sold over 4.54 million copies of the Nintendo Switch 2 worldwide during the second quarter of the game console’s release.
With over 9.57 million units sold, Mario Kart World is currently the most popular game of Nintendo’s newest hybrid gaming console, followed by Donkey Kong Bananza with over 3.49 million copies sold.
In addition, Nintendo raised its expectations for total sales. The company initially expected to sell 15 million Nintendo Switch 2 consoles in the first year, but that figure has now been revised to 19 million.
