Lloyds Bank and Virgin Money went down on Monday, preventing users from using internet banking services and seeing their transactions.
Customers of the UK banking behemoth Lloyds struggled to access their online banking this Monday. According to outage monitoring service Downdetector, the first issues were registered at 10 a.m., with users complaining that they were unable to use online services.
Spooked customers flocked to X, complaining they couldn’t log into their accounts.
“This is a joke. My account shows £00.00,” one user wrote on Elon Musk’s social network.
After more than two hours, Lloyds, whose user base exceeds 22 million people, posted a message saying that “Internet Banking and our app are back to normal. We're sorry some of our customers had issues viewing transactions earlier today.”
Interestingly, another UK-based banking services provider, Virgin Money, also ran into trouble the same day.
“We're aware that some customers are having issues with our mobile banking app and internet banking service this morning with customers not being able to view their transactions,” Virgin Money wrote on X.
However, there’s no indication that the two outages are linked.
According to UK media, this is the third time in less than three months that British customers have faced issues with online banking.
