“Not on my bingo card:” Pentagon moves on UFO file release after Trump push

US Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth has confirmed that Pentagon officials are underway with preparing to release UAP files.

“We’ve got our people working on it right now,” Hegseth told Kristin Fisher, a founder of Endless Void Studios, a video game publisher, and a former space correspondent for CNN.

Prompted by President Donald Trump’s plans to “begin the process” of releasing UFO records, Hegseth cut an enthusiastic figure in the interview.

And though no formal Executive Order has been issued, Hegseth said they’ll be “in full compliance” but gave no specific timeline.

When quizzed if he foresaw a role like the civilian head of the US military would be responsible for declassifying UAP files, Hegseth responded: “I did not have that on my bingo card at all.”

Secretary of War Pete Hegseth on Trump's decision to release UFO files: "President Trump has been committed to disclosure on lots of levels and he's made it clear that he wants answers.“ “We've got our people working on it right now. "We're going to be in full compliance with that executive order."

Hegseth was intent on emphasizing Pentagon engagement when he said, “We’ve got our people working on it right now,” and that they are “digging in.”

Cautiously optimistic, Hegseth mentioned managing expectations and not overselling himself on deadlines.

"I don't have a timeframe for you yet but...stand by,” he asserted.

Hegseth also mentioned that the Pentagon will “work with the DNI – director of national intelligence, as we always do.”

The DNI, Tulsi Gabbard, who previously spoke about aliens on The New York Post’s Pod Force One podcast in August, when she said authorities are "continuing to look for the truth and share that truth with the American people," but kept a close lid on what exactly could be in store.

"In this role, I have to be careful with what I share," Gabbard said, but when pressed in the interview, if she at least believed in the possibility of aliens and UFOs, she said “yes.”

Gabbard has spoken publicly in her role about the importance of declassification, including half a million documents, such as papers on the assassinations of President John F. Kennedy and Martin Luther King, but has made no mention officially of UFOs.

And despite Trump’s directive for authorities to begin declassifying UAP evidence and releasing it to the public, there was no mention of the topic during his annual State of the Union speech.
