The backlash against Flock Safety CEO Garrett Langley has moved from protests over surveillance cameras to something considerably more personal.
Garrett Langley spends his days making the case that Americans can have both safety and privacy, provided they are willing to compromise.
The internet, apparently, has been less interested in compromise.
Langley, CEO of the surveillance technology company Flock Safety, has become the target of an increasingly personal online backlash over the company’s sprawling network of automated license plate recognition (ALPR) cameras.
In recent weeks, users on X have circulated what they claim is the executive’s home address and photographs of a property in Atlanta, Georgia.
But that doesn’t end there. Users have reportedly marked Langley’s home on Google Maps as a public toilet.
Flock’s CEO blurred his property on Google
“Everybody please piss and shit on his house,” some users on X responded.
Internet users also noticed that Langley’s property has been blurred on Google Maps.
Google allows homeowners and tenants to request that their homes be blurred in Street View for privacy. The company requires proof of address for a residential blur request.

“Someone should probably tell him that he's got nothing to worry about if he doesn't have anything to hide,” the X user going under the name Arminius wrote, before suggesting that neighbors install cameras so “the world can watch him.”
“This internet backlash against the Flock CEO hiding his own house while selling surveillance to everyone else is honestly poetic justice. Why do tech executives think privacy rules only apply to them?” user named Drea Fox said.

“We have to prioritize compromise”
Langley made quite a controversial remark during an August interview with Fox News, as Flock faced mounting criticism over its license plate reader network.
“When people talk about just one of these, privacy or safety, they're prioritizing the wrong thing,” Langley said.
“What we have to prioritize as a country is compromise.”

Flock makes technology designed to identify vehicles and build searchable records that can help police investigate where cars have been and when. The technology is used by thousands of law enforcement agencies in 49 states.
Flock says its technology supported more than 1 million investigations in 2025 and helped locate more than 10,000 missing people. However, the company received harsh backlash over surveillance risks.
Senator Josh Hawley, R-Mo, has opened a congressional investigation into Flock's network, raising questions about access to the data and the creation of what he described as a nationwide surveillance system.
Flock has argued that the system contains privacy and accountability controls. The company says agencies control their own data and that searches are logged and auditable.
