Using first-hand expertise, our main goal is to help our readers make the most informed purchasing decisions.
Learn moreDAZN is a British sports streaming network that offers a variety of programs for those wanting to catch up on important sporting events. It is most renowned for broadcasting boxing matches and soccer, like the English Premier League and UEFA, and other sports, like MMA, motorsports, NFL, MLB, EuroLeague basketballs, tennis, and more.
While it is a popular streaming platform, unfortunately, DAZN website states support only for the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Brazil, Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, and Japan. If you live elsewhere or travel to a country that’s not named, you will need to purchase an account to see if your country is supported.
Luckily, using a VPN will allow you to access DAZN from anywhere in the world. But not every VPN works with DAZN. So, in this article, you will find suggestions for VPNs that definitely work with this streaming platform, learn how to use a VPN to stream and learn how to access DAZN’s best programs.
In which countries is DAZN available?
DAZN is available in over 200 countries, including all of the US states, but you won’t find the whole list of locations on their website. The true extent of DAZN’s availability is accessible only after you sign up to get their account. However, since most countries have different libraries, it’s worth getting a VPN to access all the available content.
Best DAZN VPNs – short list
- NordVPN – the best overall VPN for DAZN in 2024
- Surfshark – the fastest DAZN VPN for an affordable price
- IPVanish – the most secure VPN for DAZN
- CyberGhost – the cheapest DAZN VPN with premium features
- Proton VPN – the best free VPN for DAZN that works
Can I use a VPN for DAZN?
You can use a VPN to watch DAZN. However, keep in mind that DAZN doesn’t support the use of VPNs to stream anything on its platform. This simply means that DAZN takes extra care to block users with VPNs from accessing its platform.
That’s why our team made sure to do our own research to find out which VPNs are the best at unblocking DAZN.
How we ranked the best VPNs for DAZN
At Cybernews, we perform our own in-house tests. Each VPN is thoroughly tested to find out the effectiveness of its IP-masking and security features, as well as tested for speed, reliability, and more. Our research team uses our standard methodology to determine which VPNs are the best. In addition to regular tests, I performed evaluations to determine the best VPNs specifically for DAZN. Here are my criteria:
- Wide server network. Since DAZN openly supports only a handful of countries, but after sign-up shows availability all over the world, it seemed important to me to pick VPNs with a wide server network. This is essential for accessing all the different content libraries that DAZN changes country by country.
- High-speed servers for uninterrupted streaming. Sports are full blink-and-you’ll-miss-it moments, so it’s vital that the VPN won’t slow down your network speeds, and you’ll be able to stream DAZN lag-free.
- Strong security features. While streaming compatibility is important, a quality VPN should also offer strong security features, like a kill switch and data encryption, to protect your identity.
- No-logs policy. A VPN is not truly private unless it doesn’t keep logs of your online activity. I checked that each selected provider would have an independently audited no-logs policy.
- Responsive customer support. If there are any issues with your service, you want it to be resolved fast. That’s why I prioritized those VPNs that have multiple customer support options, mainly email or live chat.
Best DAZN VPNs – a detailed list
Finding VPNs that work with DAZN was no easy task, but I managed to find fairly good options in five categories, depending on your personal priorities: best overall (the one that excelled in general), fastest, safest, cheapest, and best free. It’s worth noting in advance that, due to DAZN being notoriously unfriendly towards VPNs, some server locations work better than others. Which ones work, and how to get the most out of DAZN VPN, are described below.
1. NordVPN – the best overall VPN for DAZN
Servers and countries: | 6300+ servers in 111 countries |
Supported devices: | 10 |
Best server locations for DAZN: | All/Any |
Current offer: | Get 74% OFF NordVPN + 3 months free |
NordVPN is the best VPN for streaming DAZN because it is the only one out of the tested ones that works with the platform seemingly without any issues. NordVPN unblocked DAZN in all tested locations, showed great speed retention, and didn’t drop video quality.
NordVPN has a lot to offer for its users in terms of features. Some of them, like Double VPN, offer double encryption for your data. Meanwhile, DNS leak protection keeps your IP securely hidden, ensuring that DAZN’s strong tracking would not detect the use of a VPN.
Personally, I find two of NordVPN’s features to be important and unique. One is Threat Protection, which acts as a basic antivirus and has even been certified by AV-Comparatives. It is definitely useful both for using public Wi-Fi and for daily web browsing. The second unique feature is Meshnet – it’s your own private network through which you can share files and link with other devices. You can learn more about NordVPN's features in my detailed review.
NordVPN also has a wide range of global servers. I also had no issue accessing DAZN in the US, UK, Japanese, Canadian, and Dutch servers, which cannot be said about most VPNs. Also, our speed tests revealed that NordVPN also has excellent speed retention of 90% (compared to baseline network speed of 500 Mbps), so you shouldn’t encounter any issues while streaming.
NordVPN offers different plans and their durations, with the cheapest one costing $3.09/month. It might seem more than others on this list, but NordVPN also works better than others, so it pays off. But just in case it doesn’t work for you, you can get your money back using a 30-day guarantee.
During my research, however, I did not experience any issues with NordVPN. I used its own NordLynx protocol, so my network speed with VPN was very high, and the connection was stable. Even with HD video quality, there was no buffering. When looking up other users’ experiences, I found a few who did run into problems when attempting to connect to DAZN, but there were very few recent cases (less than a year old post).
2. Surfshark – the fastest cheap VPN for DAZN
Servers and countries: | 3200+ servers in 100 countries |
Supported devices: | Unlimited |
Best server locations for DAZN: | The United Kingdom, Germany |
Current offer: | Now up to 86% OFF Surfshark + 3 months FREE |
Surfshark is one of the fastest VPNs for streaming DAZN, with an average speed retention of 86%. These fast speeds may have contributed to Surfshark having no issues with loading or video quality when watching programs on DAZN.
Surfshark offers several handy features. For example, its most affordable plan includes ad and cookie blockers, as well as personal detail and email maskers. Pricier plans include data breach alerts and antivirus. Like NordVPN, Surfshark’s no-logs policy was also independently audited and confirmed.
Due to WireGuard protocol, Surfshark is very fast, too. Its average speed, out of baseline 500 Mbps, was 466 Mbps download and 321 Mbps upload. So, while streaming DAZN, I had no issues with speed, only minor lags when switching between programs, but even then, not all the time. The streaming video quality was very good. One issue was the actual connectivity to DAZN – I was only able to connect to the UK server without any issues. Other locations either took multiple attempts or did not work at all.
Despite some issues, Surfshark is well worth the money. After all, it costs only $2.19/month for the cheapest plan, and more advanced subscription options are not that much more expensive either. If you do run into issues trying to connect to DAZN, you can always claim a 30-day money-back guarantee.
It might be handy, as DAZN’s severe crack down on VPNs left quite a few customers seeking help online. Some proposed solutions were to connect to a German server, however, for me the best option was in the United Kingdom. So, if you do pick Surfshark for DAZN, try different servers, particularly static ones, and try the same location twice – it might get easily resolved.
3. IPVanish – a highly secure DAZN VPN
Servers and countries: | 2400+ servers in 55 countries |
Supported devices: | Unlimited |
Best server locations for DAZN: | Japan |
Current offer: | Now up to 83% OFF IPVanish + 3 months FREE |
IPVanish is a safe and private VPN for DAZN. It has the same strong data encryption as NordVPN, and its no-logs policy was independently confirmed by the Leviathan Security Group. Like most VPNs, IPVanish has a functional kill switch, which secures your identity in case of a VPN connectivity drop. But uniquely, IPVanish also has a special kill switch specifically for Amazon Fire TV. You can find out more about it in the detailed IPVanish review.
The IPVanish OOKLA speed test showed pretty good results, having an average speed retention rate of 80% (out of baseline 500 Mbps). Since both Surfshark and IPVanish use WireGuard (and NordVPN’s NordLynx is essentially a version of it) and they showed great speed test results and connectivity to DAZN, it’s fair to say that WireGuard is a must to stream this platform.
Overall, DAZN's streaming quality was a bit less consistent than NordVPN and Surfshark’s, but still very good. I was able to stream DAZN programs in HD in most locations, but the smoothest experience was when connected to the Japanese server – it only took one attempt to connect and no other issues. Initially, there was a slight blur, but that went away and did not repeat when I switched between programs.
IPVanish costs as much as Surfshark, $2.19/month; however, if you were to compare the features, then Surfshark arguably offers more. However, IPVanish worked great with DAZN, especially on the Japanese server, so it already makes it one of the best VPNs for this streaming service. Also, if you want to try it out, you can claim its 30-day money-back guarantee.
All in all, I had very minimal issues when using IPVanish to stream DAZN. There was a slight video blur, and the quality was a bit inconsistent, yet still, I could watch programs in HD. While Surfshark struggled to connect to DAZN’s foreign servers on the first try, IPVanish did not, so it’s worth considering. And other than some users claiming that no VPNs work with DAZN, I couldn’t find any complaints directed at IPVanish.
4. CyberGhost – the cheapest VPN to stream DAZN
Servers and countries: | 11500+ servers in 100 countries |
Supported devices: | 7 |
Best server locations for DAZN: | Canada |
Current offer: | Get 83% OFF CyberGhost + 2 months FREE |
CyberGhost is a premium VPN with an impressive number of 11500+ global servers, all while costing just $2.19/month. Uniquely, CyberGhost offers specialized servers specifically for gaming and streaming. Additionally, this VPN offers a functional kill switch, RAM servers, and Dark Web monitoring for increased security.
While CyberGhost’s impressive server network is definitely a great asset, it has other strengths as well. For example, during our tests, its average speed was 456 Mbps download and 373 Mbps upload (compared to 500 Mbps baseline), which is very high. Also, CyberGhost has an independently audited no-logs policy, so it’s just as private as it is secure.
However, despite these benefits, CyberGhost showed minor signs of struggle with DAZN. While connecting to a Canadian server was effortless and worked on the first try, the connection quality was patchy, with inconsistent network speed while streaming and occasional buffering.
CyberGhost is the cheapest option for unblocking DAZN, as its subscription costs just $2.19/month. In addition to that, all users get an impressive 45-day money-back guarantee. So, if this provider ends up not working for you, it’s possible to claim a refund with no strings attached. Like a lot of premium VPNs, CyberGhost does not have a completely free version.
CyberGhosts’ streaming-optimized servers certainly help unblock DAZN. I couldn’t find any detailed information about it not working, as the complaints are usually directed at VPNs in general. Overall, CyberGhost is a pretty reliable VPN provider, with a 4.2 rating on Google Play and App Store. You can find out more about CyberGhost in our review.
5. Proton VPN – the best free VPN for watching DAZN
Servers and countries: | 5 free servers/countries |
Supported devices: | 1 free |
Best server locations for DAZN: | The Netherlands |
Current offer: | Get up to 64% OFF ProtonVPN |
Most VPNs struggle to bypass DAZN restrictions, and hardly any free VPNs are effective at all. However, I was able to connect to DAZN with Proton VPN, so it’s one of the few providers you can try if you want to use only free VPNs.
Proton free VPN is, in general, a great service provider. It’s highly secure, having both a no-logs policy and no ads to compensate for a free service. Its speed also impresses with an average retention rate of 85%. Furthermore, Proton’s free version does not have data, speed, or bandwidth restrictions like many other free VPNs do, so you’d be able to use this service with no technical limitations.
However, its free version only provides 5 servers in 5 countries, each assigned automatically. You can switch between them by clicking “Change server”, but again, you’ll get assigned to a random server. For streaming DAZN, this proved to be problematic, as I couldn’t connect to the streaming service at all at first. Only upon several attempts and a return to the Netherlands server was I able to stream DAZN. Unfortunately, there was a lot of buffering, and the streaming quality was not great. But this is to be expected, and Proton still performed better than any free VPN could.
Proton is still great because you don’t need to enter any payment or other personal details to use it. However, if you want more than one simultaneous connection, 8300+ global servers, and a better chance at DAZN working, I recommend getting the premium version for $3.59/month. You can also try it out to see the difference by claiming Proton VPN’s 30-day money-back guarantee. And if you like to learn the difference between paid and free versions before you subscribe, you can read our review.
While personally, I wasn’t too happy with Proton Free VPN’s performance at streaming DAZN, I found some positive feedback for its premium version. So, if you pick a free version over the paid one, don’t be disappointed if connecting to DAZN will take effort if it is successful at all. The premium version, for example, allows you to pick your own server locations, so you could try to connect to Germany or Canada, where Proton VPN works better.
What to do if DAZN isn’t available in your country?
DAZN’s website shows availability in a limited number of countries, including the US, UK, Canada, Italy, Spain, Germany, Austria, Switzerland, Brazil, and Japan. To ensure compatibility before you sign up and to fully access all of the different content libraries, you’ll have to use a VPN. Here’s how you can do it with NordVPN:
- Download and install the NordVPN app on your computer
- Open the NordVPN app and log in/sign up
- Connect to a server in the United States
- Go to the DAZN website, create an account, and start watching
Why is my VPN not working with DAZN?
There are a number of reasons why your VPN may not be working on DAZN. Before looking at advanced troubleshooting, ensure a stable internet connection and update your VPN app.
Other reasons why your VPN may not be working include:
- Your chosen VPN is down/experiencing technical issues
- School or workplace is blocking VPNs
- Country-based restrictions
- Firewall is blocking your VPN connection
- Your chosen VPN has a small number of servers and can’t keep up with DAZN
- You’re using a free VPN which has overcrowded servers
Does DAZN block certain VPNs, and how can I avoid it?
DAZN does not support the use of any VPN to access its international content libraries. If your VPN is unsuitable, outdated, or incompatible with streaming, DAZN trackers will detect that you’re using it and block your access. However, that can be easily avoided by subscribing to a reliable streaming VPN. VPNs with multiple IP-hiding features and streaming-optimized speeds can bypass DAZN’s trackers and access content as if you were physically located elsewhere.
Are there any risks to my account when using a VPN for DAZN?
DAZN has one of the strictest VPN prevention systems out of all streaming platforms. So, if your VPN use is detected, you will be blocked from accessing your account and DAZN’s content. While I couldn’t find any information about anyone’s account being banned for the use of a VPN, it’s fair to say that getting detected will be good as banned, as you won’t be able to access anything.
DAZN portability features
Unavailability when traveling was a common problem for DAZN users. Luckily, DAZN made some changes, and users can now easily watch sports when abroad. This has also made it easier to access content for all DAZN users.
For example, now you can log on to your account no matter where you are in the world, and you won’t receive an error message.
This change also allows users to access all free content regardless of where their account was made. All you have to do is connect to a server in that region, and you will be able to watch region-specific free content even with an account from another country.
Please note that paid region-specific content is only available to users who purchased a subscription in that specific region. Therefore, if you want to access region-specific content, you can do this with the help of a reliable VPN such as NordVPN.
If you have an account made in the US and are traveling, you can still access US-specific content with the help of a VPN. Simply connect to a US server and log on to your account.
Considering that DAZN doesn’t support VPNs, you may get an error message; however, in this case, I suggest switching between different servers until you unblock the DAZN platform.
FAQs
Can I use a free VPN for DAZN?
Yes, Proton VPN is a free VPN that works with DAZN. However, because it is free and only offers 5 locations, you might need to put in a lot of effort to find a server that works with DAZN, potentially having to connect to the same one repeatedly. Connection speed and quality are also likely to not be great. So, for far better results, I would recommend getting a strong premium VPN or even Proton VPN’s premium version, which has more server locations.
How to watch DAZN in the USA?
DAZN is available in the USA. Simply visit the DAZN platform, log in, and stream. If you want to access country-specific content, you will have to connect to a VPN server in that country, create an account, and buy a subscription.
Can I use DAZN in different countries?
Yes, you can watch DAZN anywhere in the world with a VPN. All you have to do is install a VPN app and connect to a server in the US, UK, Canada, or any other unrestricted country. Keep in mind that due to DAZN’s strong trackers, not all VPN servers and locations might work.
Can I use DAZN Canada in the USA?
Yes, you can watch DAZN Canada in the USA by connecting to a VPN server located in Canada, creating a Canadian account, and purchasing a DAZN subscription.
Why does DAZN think I'm in another country?
DAZN may think you’re in another country if you’re living near the border or using a VPN. This can make it block access to its website. Make sure to use a reliable VPN, such as NordVPN, with thousands of servers around the globe, to avoid this message.
Will using a VPN slow down my DAZN streaming quality?
It’s possible and seems to depend on individual cases. Some servers might be slower than others or not work with DAZN at all. Some VPNs are also faster than others. For example, you are more likely to encounter buffering or network speed issues if you use a free or weak VPN.
