AT&T, the popular American telecommunications company, has revealed new picture, video, and automatic crash alert features that might just save your life one day.
In an effort to enhance its Next Generation 9-1-1 (NG-9-1-1) emergency communications platform, AT&T has announced new features that should help provide more information to first responders.
Starting in October, AT&T’s ESInet will support picture and video messaging alongside automatic crash alert features in specific vehicles to help emergency services better understand your situation.
Alongside these features, AT&T said that the advancements will also include “security enhancements that enable 9-1-1 call centers to more securely access public safety data from the cloud.”

“The update will also enable public safety answering points (PSAPs) to access public safety data from cloud computing environments through a trusted, dedicated private internet connection, thereby helping avoid cyberthreats more prevalent on the public internet,” AT&T said.
This aims to improve first responders' access to information in real-time, helping them assess the situation faster and give those in crisis the help they need.
AT&T customers will be able to send pictures and video to PSAPs that already use AT&T ESInet as simply as they would message anyone else.
These features will be introduced to cellular customers and are designed to be “interoperable with other cellular providers.”

“Additionally, ESInet enhancements will enable select model year 2026 Toyota vehicles with the built-in AT&T Connected Car SIM to send crash data to AT&T-served PSAPs, thanks to a collaboration with Intrado,” AT&T said in a press release.
This will also give information about the crash, such as airbag status and precise vehicle location, helping first responders efficiently deal with the situation.
Since launching ESInet in 2018, AT&T claims to have updated 1,700 emergency call centers to the latest technology, which has enhanced safety for over 75 million people.
