It all comes down to a few steps: users should go to their Google Account settings, then click Personal info > Email > Google Account email.

Finally, a user should see the option to click on the “Change Google Account email” button. However, it’s only available for users in the US, and according to Google, not to everyone.

“The ability to change your Google Account email is gradually rolling out to all users, and this option may not be available to you yet,” said the company.

Anyone who can see the new feature’s button can click it to “pick a new and unique username.”

This option is available only once every 12 months. Also, during this time, users will not be able to delete the newly created email address. However, a change back to the old email address is possible at any time.

“Don’t worry about your old emails. Your original address will stay on your account as an alternate,” explains Google.

This includes the user's photos, messages, and emails sent to the previous email address.

Users will be able to sign in to Google services using both the old and the new addresses.

According to TechCrunch’s reporting, Google has been testing the new feature in Hindi-speaking countries, as stated on its support page. However, the same wasn’t replicated in the English-language support until today.

Google’s competitors have already presented similar features. Apple has allowed its users to change their Apple ID email and create aliases.

Microsoft offers flexible Outlook aliases that let multiple email addresses function under a single account. These options allow users to update or diversify their digital identity without losing access to data.
