Moments later, a single tear can be seen running down its face.
The footage shows a vendor at Yanxi Technology's stand explaining that the bionic facial expression robot, Yansyn-X2, uses a three-layer technical architecture.
The bot's current design relies on servo motors to pull its silicone facial skin and generate different expressions.
But the demonstrator confirmed in the video that the Ningbo-based firm is already working on a more sophisticated version.

Tears powered by miniature pump
Yansyn-X2 is powered by an algorithm, the booth vendor explained, a baseline system designed to understand conversational context.
When the AI processes sad or empathic language, it sends signals to bionic actuators beneath its face.
These muscles shift its silicone features into a natural expression of sadness, while a specialized fluid system releases tears. These tears are generated from an internal microfluidic system powered by a miniature peristaltic pump.
The current unit is built as a static robot, but Yansyn can apparently turn its head, track visitors, gesture with its arms and upper body, and interact continuously in a booth or stand setting.
The robot is not yet for sale, and the tear mechanism is set to be introduced later this year.
Emotional expressions are the main goal
The idea is to move beyond a limited collection of pre-built facial expressions and allow the robot’s face to transition more fluidly between different emotional states.
Emotionally expressive robots have become an increasingly common feature among Chinese robotics firms as developers try to make interactions with humanoids feel more natural.
