The OnTrac headphones do not purify air.
British company Dyson, best known for vacuum cleaners and air purifiers, is entering the headphones market again.
The company debuted its first headphones in 2022 with the launch of the Zone model. These fueled mixed reactions, as they came with a $950 price tag and a wearable mask that could purify the air by capturing city pollution, including gases and allergens.
This time, the company is betting on audio quality, battery life, and customization.
One of the unique features of OnTrac will be the ability to customize the color of ear cushions. According to Dyson, users can select custom ear cushions and outer caps in a variety of colorways and finishes.
Overall, over 2,000 changeable cushions and outer caps will be available.
The headphones come with active noise cancellation developed by the company Dyson calls the best-in-class. They use eight microphones to listen to the sounds around the user and external sound detection can be monitored via the My Dyson companion app.
Meanwhile, the audio ranges from 6HZ to 21 kHz, resulting in deep bass sounds.
Dyson says the headphones will deliver up to 55 hours of continuous listening to music, surpassing many of its competitors. They also come with fast charging: ten minutes of charge will deliver enough battery to listen for 2.5 hours.
The OnTrac headphones will be available starting in August at the price of $500.
