This app encourages users to exchange doomscrolling for creating “gizmos”

With the Gizmo app, users can also create content, but in a different way.

Another app has been added to the company Atma Sciences' social media list application. It recently released an app called Gizmo.

While at first they might resemble other well-known apps such as TikTok or Instagram, what makes Gizmo different is that, instead of scrolling through photos or videos, each scroll invites users to engage in activities that feel like a game.

The company calls the app “a new creative platform where you can make, share, and discover interactive experiences called ‘Gizmos.’”

Users are encouraged to play various games that require creating sounds, drawing pictures, uploading images, or trying different types of interactions.

Besides participating in these “games,” users can also interact by liking posts and leaving comments.

Users can also create their own versions of existing Gizmos without having to know how to code and using AI prompts instead, notes TechCrunch.

All users have to do is explain their idea to the AI, which then generates code to turn it into an app.

While the company notes that users can create anything they can think of, it also emphasizes employing “safety systems using both AI and human moderation to maintain a positive community.”

The app, available for free on iOS and Android, has already reached 600,000 downloads in less than six months.

235,000 of these downloads occurred in December 2025, which is almost 40% of its total downloads.
