YouTube is just now coming out with its “YouTube Recap,” which, similar to Spotify Wrapped, will fill you with fear and anxiety this holiday season.
People are absolutely obsessed with Spotify Wrapped, not because it’s exciting to look back at what you’ve been listening to, but because music lovers alike want to show everyone they have optimal taste.
But you probably never thought that YouTube would do a similar thing – until now.
YouTube’s recap” aims to bring “together the unique interests, creators, music, and moments that defined your year on YouTube,” Google said in a post.
To access the recap, users must log in to their YouTube account on their phones or computers.
If users want to watch their recap on a mobile device, they must have the YouTube app installed and updated to Android version 18.43 or newer and iPhone version 18.43 or newer.
YouTube Recap includes:
- Long-form videos
- YouTube Shorts
- Content watched when signed into YouTube on mobile, computer, and TV
- Downloaded videos
- YouTube Music.
The only content that isn’t available in your YouTube Recap is YouTube TV content and Primetime Channels.
Account activity and settings will affect your YouTube Recap. This includes the minimum watch history, which is between January and late October 2025.
YouTube Recap is only available for people 13 and over, and supervised kids' accounts are eligible.
The recap will be available in 17 languages, including Thai, Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, Japanese, and more.
YouTube announced its recap feature on X, and users are starting to feel anxiety.
“Can’t wait to see if my 2025 personality is ‘productivity videos’ or ‘3 a.m. conspiracy rabbit holes,” said one user.
“My recap better not expose the two ads I watched for every 1 video,” said a non-Premium YouTube user.
“Waiting for mine to expose my questionable late-night watch history.”
Another user said that they fear the YouTube Recap, saying that “YouTube knows me better than I know myself at this point.”
Many others commented on how their “down the rabbit hole” activities will be exposed through this recap.
