Google has been demonstrating a wide assortment of products to employees and external developers, including an artificial intelligence (AI) agent designed for software development.
According to The Information, the software AI agent will be introduced during Google I/O, which takes place on May 20th and 21st in Mountain View, California.
The AI agent aims to enhance software engineers' coding capabilities and assist them during the software development process, including responding to tasks and documenting code. The Information cites three people who have witnessed demonstrations of the product or have been told about it by Google employees.
According to the report, Google will also demonstrate the integration of the Gemini AI chatbot with the company’s Android XR glasses and headset.
Google declined to comment on the rumors.
Recently, we heard that Google is testing a new feature that allows users to upload files when using Google’s Deep Research tool, including images, source code, and documents, for more tailored research insights.
“The ability to ground research against user-uploaded files would make Deep Research much more versatile for professionals and researchers,” Alexey Shabanov, a tech news blogger and beta tester, explained.
Loading files into Gemini Deep Research is a highly requested feature, which is most likely to roll out somewhere in the coming months.
Google I/O is Google’s annual developer conference where the company announces and demonstrates its latest products, software updates, and technological advancements. The event used to focus on developers, but has attracted tech enthusiasts, mainstream media, and consumers in recent years.
Products that Google is going to showcase this year remain a mystery. We bet new additions and features to AI, machine learning, and Android 16 will be at the forefront.
