No more awkward explanations for accidental calls with iOS 26.
Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) has already revealed several new features for its upcoming operating system.
But even more features, or rather upgrades, have been uncovered in the past week. For example, users who find it hard to wake up in the morning will now have an updated iPhone Alarm function that allows them to customize their snooze time.
It’s been previously promised that more Apple apps will receive upgrades or new features, one of which was recently shared by X user @aaronp613.
“iOS 26 adds a ‘tap recents to call’ option. I can’t see why anyone would want to turn this on, no more accidentally calling someone!” shared the analyst at MacRumors.

The update provides a solution to an often-occurring issue, when a user accidentally calls someone from their call list, making it a perhaps confusing and awkward situation.
With iOS 26, iPhone users will be able to go to the settings, where they’ll find the “Tap Recents to Call” feature. By switching it off, users no longer have to worry about accidental calls. Instead, they will be shown a contact card, where they can make an intended call.
If a user decides to switch on the feature, next time they click on a contact’s name, it will “start the call as soon as you tap a name or number in the Recents list.”
The new feature is disabled by default on the new user interface. According to MacRumors, it is also not available on the classic user interface.
