LinkedIn’s concern for AI slop follows industry reports of a staggering 41% of the platform's longform content being AI generated. The company said it will even remove the “enhance your post” feature, replacing it with a proofreading tool.
Job market-oriented LinkedIn introduced new ways to combat AI slop and post automation, which seem to be plaguing the platform. The move comes weeks after AI-detection company Pangram published a report, claiming that nearly half of LinkedIn posts are not written by humans.
The Pangram report noted that unlike other social media platforms LinkedIn encouraged users to use AI with “Enhance post” and other features, which reword user content with AI assistance.
Meanwhile, LinkedIn’s chief product officer (CPO) Hari Srinivasan published a post, saying “AI slop is a top priority for us all.” According to Srinivasan, the Microsoft owned platform will invest in automation defenses.
“On comments alone, everyday we are now catching hundreds of thousands of automated comment attempts, and have blocked billions of other automation attempts (posting at scale, slop) in the last couple months alone,” Srinivasan explained.
Ironically, according to Pangram’s report, a LinkedIn initial announcement about the need to scan its content for AI, posted 2 months ago, was itself AI-generated, with the company using an in-house algorithm.
However, Srinivasan’s July 30th post said LinkedIn will introduce new classifiers to identify if user posts are AI-slop or of low quality.
“We are ramping the ability for members to tell us if they believe a post or comment seems like AI slop. Slop is hard to define and the definition changes; this lets us tune our models and make better feeds,” Srinivasan said.
Users will be able to flag comets using a “Seems like AI slop” button, available next to user posts on the platform. However, the CPO clearly indicated that LinkedIn will not penalize users for using AI, saying “AI and slop are not the same thing.”

At the same time Srinivasan said the platform will no longer have the “Enhance your post” feature. Instead, users will have a proofreading feature. That’s because LinkedIn feels that users use AI to feel more confident about what they say via long form posts.
With over 300 million users, LinkedIn is one of the world's largest employment-oriented social networking services. Owned by Microsoft since 2016, the company reported revenue exceeding $17.8 billion in 2025 and staff of nearly 19,000.
