Nothing Phone (4a) line hardware upgrades

Nothing highlighted significant hardware upgrades for its new Phone 4a line: a peak brightness of 5,000 nits, an enhanced 144 Hz refresh rate aimed at gamers, and the company’s thinnest bezels to date, with the 4a Pro surpassing last summer’s Phone 3a, framed as broad “across the board” improvements.

The company also confirmed the 4a series will use Qualcomm Snapdragon processors.

The company also confirmed the new model adopts LPDDR5x RAM, which will speed up app switching and deliver a more fluid, responsive user experience.

Camera improvements in Nothing Phone (4a) and (4a) Pro

The new smartphone camera improvements are aimed at portrait shooters, showcasing a preferred "golden" focal length that delivers notably strong results. The company bumped lossless zoom to 7x from last year's 6x, and added long-range options—advertising a 70x ultra-zoom on the 4a and up to 140x on the 4.

The company also highlighted camera software upgrades to its Nothing Gallery, adding a broader suite of editing tools and a highly requested AI eraser. The new features are designed to let users fine‑tune images and remove unwanted objects or people from shots.

Nothing "essential notifications" feature upgrade

Nothing detailed refinements to its phones' notification systems: Phone 2 gains dynamic zones for live updates, including clip progress, essential notifications, and personalized alerts, while the 3a series compresses the Glyph into three strips to retain full functionality using only the phone's top portion.

The company also highlighted tighter software integration around its Glip interface, or an "essential notifications" feature that lets users whitelist specific people or keywords so important alerts bypass filters. The phone's glyph will visibly notify users when those conditions are met, with options to customize the indicator (for example, a heart icon).

The company also highlighted system-level refinements aimed at personalization and usability: improved multitasking for more effortless switching, upgraded camera and gallery experiences, and the launch of "essential apps," a platform feature that lets anyone create and deploy personalized apps.

Nothing releases Phone (4a)

The company confirmed two phones in the lineup and highlighted the Phone 4a, which had been revealed earlier, available in four colors: white, black, blue, and pink.

Nothing said its latest handset continues the company’s signature transparent design, introducing a sculpted, functional “window” that the firm calls a defining gesture. The clear element is integrated into a precisely engineered aluminum unibody, aiming to add both a recognizable identity and durable construction to the Phone 4a Pro.

Nothing unveiled a new pink finish for the 4a and 4a Pro, describing it as a desaturated evolution of the brand’s “Nothing Red.”

The company positioned Nothing Phone (3) as the pinnacle of their hardware lineup and said they will continue to lead with it through 2026.

Nothing said the Phone (3) will deliver consistent performance across lighting conditions and lenses, and unveiled a suite of essential AI tools — originally exclusive apps for the Phone 3 that are now being rolled out across the lineup.

The company emphasized ongoing updates, positioning the Phone (3) as its flagship through 2026, and highlighted unique functionality intended to differentiate the device and give users peace of mind about their investment.

Nothing launches Headphone A

The company announced an addition to its over-ear lineup, emphasizing that the new model is an extension rather than a replacement of the existing portfolio.

Carl Pei opens Nothing live event

Nothing's CEO, Carl Pei, gave an opening speech on what's next for the company.

He talked about the smartphone future, arguing the handset — with its sensors, distribution scale, and unique user context — will remain the key device in the AI era. The company said the operating system must evolve into an intent-aware, AI-driven platform that understands users, automates mundane tasks, and frees people to focus on more meaningful activities.

Nothing Phone (4a): What to expect?

Before the release, the company had already teased how the new devices would look, hinting that the smartphone would be available in four “tinted glass” colors: black, white, blue, and pink.

This was also confirmed at this year’s Mobile World Congress (MWC), where the company’s new smartphones were spotted in the same colors. However, they were only available to view behind glass, notes GSM Arena.

Besides revealing the smartphone's design, the company also announced its redesigned Glyph Bar, a notification system that uses light to alert users to calls, texts, and other notifications.

Regarding the smartphone’s hardware specifications, there are rumors that both variants will feature the Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset.

Before the new Nothing devices become available worldwide, the company is expected to release them in two cities, London and Bengaluru, starting March 7th.

With priority availability, the first 100 customers will also have an opportunity to engrave their devices and receive free Ear (a) series buds, reports the Deccan Herald.
