The latest Spotify outage has broken the camel’s back for some of its users.
Spotify users worldwide reported disruptions to the streaming service, sharing that the problem persists in the app and on the website.
While such outages are quite common, Spotify users seemed particularly annoyed by the latest disruption.
Spotify down for half a day, users mad for longer
According to information provided by Downdetector, a website that provides real-time information when various outlets are down, the latest Spotify outage took place from the early morning to midday on April 16th. More than 48,000 users reported the problem.
Despite the services being down for half a day, Spotify users were quick to vent their frustration online.
One user started a discussion on Reddit by sharing that they struggled to use the services and were logged out of the app.
“I hope we get a genuine apology or something from Spotify. This is getting ridiculous now,” wrote the Redditor, also mentioning the increasing prices for a service that fails to work.
As of now, Spotify’s Individual plan for US users costs $12 a month, with the first three months given for free. The last premium service price hike took place last year.
Some users were curious to know the reason behind the outage. However, even after the issue was resolved, the company didn’t provide an answer but confirmed that the problem wasn’t related to a security hack.
Spotify users battling other issues
“What's going on with them recently, this last half year or so many issues across the board,” wrote one user online.
The other problems the user mentioned included a glitch when adding songs to the queue, which would then make the player stop working. Some Spotify users also noticed that once they tried to add a new song to the playlist, the app would add it twice.
Another Redditor said that their attempt to make the app work ended in all their playlists disappearing.
Many users didn’t hide their disappointment with the services.
“This app has been complete dogshit the last couple months,” another user said duing the ongoing discussion on Reddit.
“I thought they hit us again, but nope, down for everyone lmaoooo. I'd be even more pissed if I paid for this garbage, wrote another Redditor.
Spotify users looking for a backup plan
While some expressed their irritation with Spotify, other users were looking for ways to prevent such a situation from affecting them in the future.
“At least I still have a decent offline library. This is making me think of cloning my Spotify library to another streaming service for backup,” shared one user.
“My library has over 10,000 songs. There is no way I am spending my free time digging up all that stuff on the internet,” wrote another.
One of the services that music lovers use to transfer their favorite songs and playlists is Soundizz, a platform that automatically backs up music collections.
Similar playlist transfer tools also include Free Your Music, Exportify for Spotify playlists transfer, and Tune My Music, which offers a free trial with up to 500 song transfers.
