“I hear arsenic green is a great color on them:” Why are tech bros walking fashion runways?

Users online are questioning why well-known tech names, such as Bezos, Zuckerberg, and Johnson, are part of Paris Fashion Week.
While Fashion Week could be considered a pretty niche event, usually of high importance to those in the industry and fashion enthusiasts, some note a shift in who gets to be part of these shows and what it actually means.
This year, at Paris Fashion Week, where designers revealed their Fall/Winter 2026-2027 collections, some drew more attention to who wore the pieces than to the pieces themselves.
Bryan Johnson is an entrepreneur best known for his “Project Blueprint,” a journey towards longevity, which requires him to have a team of doctors, take hundreds of pills, and spend millions of dollars to battle aging.
On his X account, Johnson shared that he, “a meme for Immortality,” attended Paris Fashion Week as a model, walking for Matières Fécales, a Parisian label.
The man shared that by walking the runway. He represented “the Immortals,” a title for the final section of the collection.
In the post, Johnson explained that while he has been working on longevity, “most of [his] work has lived in technology and science,” while “fashion operates in a completely different system.”
“The show created a bridge between those worlds,” notes the entrepreneur.
His post sparked an online discussion, with some questioning the topic and whether longevity would be affordable for everyone, while others made fun of the situation and the man's appearance on the runway.
“Being the first vampire model walking in the Paris fashion week is crazy,” wrote one user.
“They let you wear the tracker under the shirt?” said another comment.
Many comments also focused on the way they see longevity and how it has been portrayed,
“Might make another attempt at your interpretation of ‘art’ since this theme is all dark and morbid, nothing related to life or ‘immortality’ -- how about a self respecting nerd outfit with t-shirt, jeans and a worn out lab coat with a zero-cringe symbol on it,” wrote one user.
“I'm all about longevity and quality of life but no one should ever even aspire to be immortal... natural order needs renewal. Making peace with death is way better!” noted another comment on X.
Diet Prada, an Instagram account with almost 3.5 million followers that provides commentary on recent fashion trends and news, noted that during the Fashion Week, Johnson wasn’t the only one from “his ilk” to appear at the event.
The post focused on well-known names in the tech world, such as Bezos and Zuckerberg, asking, “Why are all these billionaires, biohackers, and manosphere chads invading the fashion world?”
The post highlights that while these faces are used to convey a message, with Matières Fécales using its collection to “boldly satirized the savagery of power, extreme wealth, and resource-hoarding,” according to Diet Prada, it also reveals that the fashion industry needs these faces and connections to maintain in this expensive, AI-driven world.
But what do entrepreneurs get from this?
“But as for the bros, it’s harder to tell what they’re getting out of it. Could it be that they just really, really want us to think they’re cool? Even when we’re openly laughing at them?” notes the post.
While whatever mind games are taking place in the fashion industry, Instagram users also couldn’t miss these tech businessmen attending the events.
“Bryan Johnson walks like he’s trying to hold in the aftermath of consuming 400 supplements a day,” wrote one user.
“why does he want to live forever walking like this??” added another.
“I hear arsenic green is a great color on them,” noted another Instagram user.
