A video from the 2024 World Robot Conference in Beijing has gone viral after users questioned whether the women in the video are really robots at all.
The X user ‘Game of X’ or ‘froggyups,’ who has 24,000 followers, one of whom is Elon Musk, posted a video of a woman who can be seen walking, moving robotically while jerking her head – the movements are very unnatural.

Behind the woman, the sign Ex-Robot can be seen, which is a Chinese robotics company that specializes in creating convincing bionic humanoid robots.
So, it begs the question. Are these women actually humanoid robots, or are they posing as such?
Commenters under the post argued about the credibility of the video, with many asking whether the women in the video were real robots.
One user asked whether the women in the foreground are real or fake, and ‘froggyups’ responded, claiming that these “robots” are human actors.
However, these claims seem to be true. These women are real and are only imitating robots, as one woman can be seen eating a meal in a robot costume. However, the “women” in the background are animatronics designed by Ex-Robot.

There are various telltale signs to suggest that the robot women in the background aren’t real women. Their movements are seemingly programmed, as they consistently sway back and forth, and they blink unnaturally and infrequently.
Ex-Robot is a Chinese company that specializes in creating robots that serve the general public. On its website, the robotics company claims to have “resurrected” scientists like Thomas Edison, Stephen Hawking, and Albert Einstein to engage audiences with their life stories.
Dalian TIS Technology development company, otherwise known as Ex-Robot, was founded in 2013 in Dalian, a city in China with a population of six million. Since then, Ex-Robot has been working on humanoid robots that can help change various industries and serve the public.
On its website, the company claims that these robots could work as intelligent guides for government agencies, medical institutions, and service or retail industries.
Ex-Robot also claims that its software and hardware technologies revive prominent figures that could be used for educational purposes.
The company even claims that companies could have their own humanoid robots, which could function as their own “virtual spokespeople.”
The World Robot Conference is a yearly conference held in Beijing. It is organized by governmental bodies and the Chinese Association for Science and Technology to showcase the latest scientific and technological advancements.
A recent video, reposted by X user 'Game of X' or 'froggyups,' shows the long and detailed process needed to turn these women into robots. The models are shown being worked on by makeup artists, who carefully turn them into humanoid robots. The women wear wigs and contact lenses to make their appearance look doll-like.
