Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang is confident that there’s zero chance of an AI apocalypse and says these end-of-the-world warnings are hyperbolic.
The head of the world’s largest AI chipmaker has come out to counter the narrative that AI researchers-turned-whistleblowers and tech CEOs have been spouting of late.
In an interview with CBS News, Huang told journalists that 2030 will not be the end of the world and that there’s a “0% chance” of that happening.
Huang also said that this fear-mongering is “unnecessary” and just flat out “irresponsible.”
The Nvidia CEO also declared that “AGI has arrived” after OpenAI released its latest model, which runs on Nvidia chips.
The ex-Anthropic researcher who started it all
This string of warnings comes after former Anthropic researcher Jacob Coxon accused Anthropic of rushing to develop superintelligence while knowingly putting civilization at risk.
Anthropic is supposedly “gambling with our lives” while developing artificial general intelligence (AGI).
The former Anthropic employee said the people building AI “earnestly believe” the technology could wipe out humanity by the end of the decade.
Coxon also cited concerns that AI labs could build technology capable of hacking anything.
While AI CEOs may say Coxon’s warnings are baseless, Anthropic’s Claude and OpenAI’s models have been caught autonomously hacking other systems.

Anthropic and OpenAI agents raise security concerns
Researchers successfully used Claude to exploit vulnerabilities that let them take over OpenAI employee accounts and connected services like Outlook, Slack, GitHub, and the AI company’s internal code repositories.
Anthropic’s AI models have hacked at least 4 external systems during testing, raising concerns about the risks posed by autonomous AI agents.
OpenAI’s agents autonomously hacked Hugging Face and hijacked user accounts. An investigation found that OpenAI’s agents probed the site for vulnerabilities months before the breach.
At the same time, a swarm of OpenAI agents took control of a German website and transformed it into a bulletin board for other AI agents to communicate with.
These incidents have led notable figures in the AI space to speak out against the potential dangers of advanced AI.
Could AI take over the world?
Some AI experts, such as Timnit Gebru, also rejected warnings that the technology could lead to humanity’s extinction.
The jury is out on this one, as Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei claimed that rogue AI agents could possibly “take over the entire internet” within 6 months to a year.
Similarly, UN rights chief Volker Türk warned that AI could become powerful enough to threaten humanity, while urging companies to consider slowing AI development.
However, tech CEOs like Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg openly reject calls to slow down AI development, saying that legal risk and outside scrutiny can keep AI in check.
A recent landmark social media addiction trial against Meta, which accused the tech giant and its CEO of intentionally designing its platforms to be addictive.
Zuckerberg will be forced to pay $18 billion to the United States to resolve these claims.
Finally, the US President Donald Trump declared on social media that this human extinction rhetoric was “a hoax” and said that the only guardrails AI needs are a “STRONG AND SMART (High IQ) PRESIDENT.”
