Hostinger VPS review 2026 – one of the easiest to use?

Hostinger offers multiple plans, including shared, cloud, WordPress, and VPS (virtual private server) hosting. VPS hosting is one of the most popular types of hosting on the market due to its versatility and customization.

In this Hostinger VPS review, I performed hands-on testing to show how you can use the service to host your own websites, web apps, games, and instances of software such as OpenClaw and n8n. I examined how easy it is to set up and use, and looked at its performance metrics to help you decide whether Hostinger’s VPS offering is right for you.

Hostinger VPS review 2026: the verdict

Hostinger is a great choice if you want affordable VPS hosting with an easy setup process, solid performance, and enough flexibility to run websites, web apps, game servers, or custom software. It’s especially well-suited for beginners, small businesses, developers on a budget, and users who want more control than shared hosting offers without paying premium VPS prices.

You may want to look elsewhere if you need fully managed VPS hosting, enterprise-grade infrastructure, or highly advanced cloud controls. Experienced users running large-scale production workloads may prefer providers that focus more heavily on developer tooling and deep server customization.

Hostinger VPS pricing and plans

Hostinger keeps VPS pricing simple with four main KVM plans that scale from entry-level hosting to more demanding workloads. This makes it easier to choose based on how much CPU, RAM, and storage you need. Its plans are competitively priced starting at $5.84/month, especially on longer billing terms, making Hostinger a strong budget option for users who do not need managed VPS support.

PlanBest forResources1 month12 months24 months
KVM 1Basic bot and app hosting1vCPU, 4GB RAM, 50GB NVMe$9.99/month$6.29/month$5.84/month
KVM 2Growing sites, apps2vCPU, 8GB RAM, 100GB NVMe$13.99/month$8.99/month$8.09/month
KVM 4Business sites, game servers4vCPU, 16GB RAM, 200GB NVMe$25.99/month$13.49/month$11.69/month
KVM 8High-traffic workloads8vCPU, 32GB RAM, 400GB NVMe$50.99/month$25.64/month$23.39/month

Hostinger’s lowest advertised prices usually require longer commitments, while one-month billing costs more but offers flexibility. This sort of pricing is common across the hosting market.

However, renewal pricing is important to watch. Introductory rates are temporary, and plans renew at a higher standard price after the first term. Hostinger is generally more transparent than some competitors because renewal pricing is shown during checkout, but users should still review final costs carefully.

I did not find mandatory hidden fees for standard VPS use. However, optional extras like backups, control panel licenses, domains, or paid admin help can increase your total cost.

Overall, Hostinger VPS offers strong value for money compared with providers like IONOS or Bluehost, especially for developers, small businesses, and users comfortable managing their own server.

Best value VPS plan

Hostinger’s KVM 2 plan will allow you to host everything from big websites to apps, OpenClaw, n8n, and game servers.

Hostinger VPS features

Hostinger VPS includes a solid mix of features for users who want more control than shared hosting provides. You get dedicated resources, full root access, and flexible server management tools, making it a practical option for websites, apps, game servers, and custom workloads. Below are the features that stand out most in day-to-day use.

Full root access

Hostinger VPS includes full root access on all plans, which gives you complete control over your server environment. This means you can install custom software, change system settings, configure firewalls, and run workloads that would not be possible on shared hosting. In practice, I found this especially useful for users who want to deploy Docker containers, developer tools, automation platforms like n8n, or custom game servers.

Root access is one of the main reasons to choose VPS hosting over simpler plans. It gives you the freedom to build the server exactly how you want it. That said, it also means you are responsible for updates, security hardening, and troubleshooting, so beginners may face a learning curve.

OS choices

Hostinger offers 11 different Linux distributions to use as operating systems for your server. These can be installed using the one-click install feature. Here’s a list of all the Linux distributions offered by Hostinger VPS:

  • AlmaLinux
  • Alpine Linux
  • Arch Linux
  • CentOS
  • CloudLinux
  • Debian
  • Fedora Cloud
  • Kali Linux
  • openSUSE
  • Rocky Linux
  • Ubuntu

If you’re a beginner, I recommend using Ubuntu, because it is one of the most popular Linux distributions and has a large community with helpful documentation in case you need any assistance.

IPv4/IPv6

Hostinger VPS includes dedicated IPv4 and IPv6 addresses for your server. A dedicated IP can improve control over networking tasks, remote connections, custom DNS settings, and software that requires a fixed address. As our testing showed, this is especially useful when hosting websites, managing game servers, or connecting securely through SSH.

IPv4 remains the most widely used internet protocol today, so compatibility is rarely an issue. At the same time, IPv6 support helps prepare your server for modern network environments as adoption continues to grow. Having both options gives users more flexibility and better long-term compatibility.

Backups and snapshots

Hostinger offers weekly snapshots on all its plans. These are essentially complete backups of your server, including all your files and settings. The provider also offers paid daily backups, which further reduce recovery risk.

Hostinger retains your last two backups, meaning you’ll have two snapshots from the last two weeks or two days depending on whether you purchased the daily backup add-on. When testing, I also appreciated that I was able to create manual snapshots, which was particularly useful when performing updates or making large changes. You can have one manual snapshot at a time, which expires after 20 days.

Note that if you restore a snapshot, you will be adding all the files and settings added after the backup date, so restores should be used carefully.

VPS security

Hostinger VPS offers several security features that help ensure your server will run smoothly and without interruption. These include:

  • Vanguard DDoS protection. Hostinger’s real-time DDoS filter analyzes incoming traffic to block malicious requests before they disrupt your server.
  • VPS malware scanner. Hostinger scans all your files to ensure that nothing that is being uploaded to your server can harm your server or computer.
  • Fail2Ban brute force blocker. Hostinger protects your SSH root access from brute force attempts by threat actors.
  • AI security assistant. Hostinger’s Kodee assistant will also help you with security setup, ensuring your server is well protected.

Server locations

To help you choose the best region, Hostinger offers a wide array of server locations covering three continents. Here’s where Hostinger’s VPS data centers are located:

  • Europe: France, Germany, Lithuania, and the United Kingdom
  • Asia: India, Indonesia, and Malaysia
  • North America: the United States (Boston and Phoenix)

Hostinger VPS performance testing

To evaluate Hostinger VPS performance, our research team reviewed benchmark data covering CPU, storage, compression, and network throughput. These tests focus on real VPS use cases such as hosting websites, running databases, handling file transfers, and managing custom apps. Based on the results, Hostinger delivered consistently strong performance for the price, especially in storage and single-core processing.

The strongest result came from storage performance. Reaching around 80K IOPS suggests fast NVMe-backed storage that should handle busy websites, databases, and frequent file operations well. Even under load, disk utilization stayed at 46%, which indicates room for heavier workloads.

CPU performance was also impressive. Encryption speeds above 1GB/s on common algorithms show that Hostinger VPS can comfortably manage HTTPS traffic, VPN workloads, and other compute-heavy tasks. Compression results remained steady, which usually points to reliable CPU cache and memory behavior.

Network performance averaged 580Mbits/s during a sustained five-minute transfer. While below a full gigabit line rate, it is still more than enough for most websites, remote management, game servers, and app hosting needs. Overall, Hostinger VPS performed very well in testing.

VPS ease of use and setup

Whether you’re using a VPS hosting provider for the first time or are an experienced user, ease of use is a key factor when choosing where to host your server. In this section, I review Hostinger’s VPS setup process, interface, and management tools to help you decide whether it is the right provider for your needs.

Interface

Hostinger’s hPanel is one of my favorite control panels on the market. It looks modern and is easy to navigate. In testing, I found it beginner-friendly while still giving advanced users quick access to deeper VPS features.

The main VPS dashboard clearly displays key server details such as your IP address, CPU usage, memory usage, storage, and login information. From the same area, you can reinstall your operating system, manage snapshots, open the browser-based terminal, configure Docker, and access DNS tools. Everything feels logically placed, so I rarely had to search for settings.

Whenever I felt I needed Hostinger to explain something to me, its Kodee AI assistant was there to help. The chatbot is well trained and gives detailed, helpful answers.

VPS control panel setup

Hostinger’s hPanel is the main account dashboard, while a VPS control panel is something you install on the server itself for website or application management. This is useful if you prefer a graphical server admin experience instead of working through the command line.

Hostinger supports several VPS control panels, including CyberPanel, EasyPanel, CloudPanel, and paid cPanel. I tested installing CyberPanel, and the process was straightforward. I selected the template, confirmed the setup, and waited for provisioning to finish. Once complete, I could log in and start managing websites and databases immediately.

Hostinger also includes useful built-in tools such as a firewall manager, snapshots, OS controls, SSH key access, and a web terminal.

Hostinger VPS for gaming

To test Hostinger’s gaming VPS service, I purchased a separate Game Panel plan and set up a Killing Floor server. The process was simple: I clicked Setup, selected the server location, created a password, and waited a few minutes for deployment.

Once ready, I accessed the AMP Game Server Control Panel and created the game instance. Hostinger’s Game Panel supports more than 100 games, including Minecraft, Counter-Strike 2, Palworld, Valheim, and Killing Floor. This makes it a practical option for users who want fast game server deployment without manual configuration.

Hostinger VPS for OpenClaw

To test OpenClaw hosting, I purchased a separate Hostinger OpenClaw VPS plan. Setup was very easy through the Docker Manager in hPanel. I opened the VPS dashboard, went to Docker ManagerCatalog, searched for OpenClaw, selected the template, entered my API and channel keys, and deployed the server.

I liked that the instance runs inside an isolated Docker container. According to Hostinger, security updates are also handled for you on the one-click setup, which lowers maintenance work.

You can also install OpenClaw manually through the terminal, but that requires more setup and ongoing security management.

Hostinger VPS for n8n

I also tested Hostinger’s separate n8n hosting plan. Like OpenClaw, installation happens through the Docker Manager in hPanel. I searched for n8n in the catalog, selected the template, chose the timezone, and clicked Deploy.

After setup, I opened the n8n web interface, created an account, and started configuring workflows. The process was quick and beginner-friendly.

If you prefer full manual control, you can install n8n through the command line, but for most users, the template is the faster and easier option.

Final thoughts

Hostinger VPS is one of the best budget VPS hosting options I’ve tested for users who want solid value, modern tools, and an easier learning curve than many traditional VPS providers. It combines reliable performance, full root access, flexible Linux options, and a polished hPanel that makes server management far less intimidating.

I was especially impressed by how simple Hostinger makes specialized setups like gaming servers, OpenClaw, and n8n through ready-made templates. That said, this is still unmanaged VPS hosting, so users should expect some hands-on responsibility.

Overall, if you want affordable VPS hosting with practical features and room to grow, Hostinger has my sincere recommendation.
